The Teleconsultation Pharmacist conducts virtual patient consultations to evaluate medication needs and provide professional clinical advice. They also collaborate with healthcare providers and ensure full compliance with local and international regulatory standards.
This role will involve providing remote pharmaceutical care and expertise to patients through virtual consultations, following the legal, ethical, and professional standards and regulations for telemedicine and pharmacy practice.
Responsibilities
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct virtual consultations with patients to evaluate and address their medication-related needs, using evidence-based and patient-centered approaches.
Provide professional advice on prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, and general health inquiries, using their clinical knowledge and skills, as well as relevant resources and guidelines.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care, using effective communication and documentation skills.
Perform other duties as directed by the Manager.
Administration
Strictly comply with the Company’s Work Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct.
Understand and ensure correct implementation of systems used by the organization, (e.g., Human Resource Management System (HRMS), Data Management System (DMS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), etc.).
Quality Management
Involvement in the development, review, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Quality Management System and other related compliance, assurance, and quality improvement activities of the organization.
Regulatory Requirements
Responsible to ensure full compliance with the applicable UAE laws and regulations required by related governmental agencies, authorities, and organization, both local and international, (e.g., MOHRE, DOH, FANR, etc.).
Qualifications
Professional & Academic Qualifications, Experience and Licenses
A Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution is required.
A valid pharmacist license is essential.
Prior experience in telehealth or teleconsultation is desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
Ability to adapt to and embrace new technologies and virtual platforms is expected.
4. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
A teleconsultation pharmacist should have a broad spectrum of clinical knowledge and skills to provide medication-related services to patients via telemedicine platforms. This includes knowledge of pharmacotherapy, information on medicines, patient safety, and evidence-based practice.
A teleconsultation pharmacist should have excellent communication in Arabic and English language, and interpersonal skills to interact with patients over the phone.
A teleconsultation pharmacist should have the ability to adapt to and embrace new technologies and virtual platforms that are used to deliver teleconsultation services.
A teleconsultation pharmacist should have the ability to perform an objective self-assessment of their clinical knowledge and practice and identify areas for improvement. This includes skills in seeking feedback, reflecting on performance, and engaging in continuous professional development.
A teleconsultation pharmacist should have the ability to lead and manage all inquiries related to medication to ensure quality and safety standards.
A teleconsultation pharmacist should be up to date with the CME and CPD as required by DOH to renew their license.
