Overview

Position Purpose:

The Technical Services Engineer (TSE) is a technical resource supporting Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) projects. The TSE provides technical expertise and direction in the development and successful implementation of energy conservation measures for retro-commissioning (RCx) activities. Projects typically involve complex, multi-building and multi-campus portfolios within higher education and healthcare environments, and are characterized by substantial mechanical infrastructure and advanced, integrated control strategies.

The role provides technical expertise across all phases of the commissioning (Cx) process and collaborates with the engineer of record to optimize system performance and develop practical solutions. Additionally, the TSE supports the training and mentorship of Technical Services (TS) staff. This role works in close collaboration with project managers, energy managers and TS team managers to ensure successful delivery of energy and operational performance outcomes.

A TSE brings deep expertise in MEP design and the implementation of energy conservation measures, with a strong focus on building automation and energy management systems. They must uphold and promote the ENFRA brand by guaranteeing excellence in the execution of work and ensuring positive client experience, performing assigned duties with minimal supervision while working in a team problem-solving environment.

This role requires technical expertise in HVAC systems, building automation systems, and energy conservation strategies, with the ability to analyze complex system interactions and drive issue resolution across multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate demonstrates knowledge of the commissioning process, energy optimization methodologies, and industry standard best practices, while maintaining a strong focus on execution quality, documentation, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Serves as the ultimate technical authority and direction leader across all phases of the commissioning and development process
• Masterfully integrates unified energy management solutions across complex, multidisciplinary project scopes
• Maximizes project outcomes by providing a technical focus and balance between project constraints and required outcomes for the entire Technical Services organization
• Strategically identifies gaps in project execution and establishes standard operating procedures and company-wide standards to resolve systemic issues
• Informs significant business decisions while successfully executing other major project assignments
• Cultivates technical staff capability by driving the training, coaching, and mentorship frameworks across the Technical Services organization
• Handles highly complex system integrations, peer reviews, and advanced optimization of multi-system plants
• Any other high-level duties as assigned by company leadership

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in engineering design, energy management, or retro commissioning
• Professional Engineering (PE) license
• Authoritative technical expertise in building systems, energy management, and commissioning standards
• Exceptional leadership and organizational skills, with a track record of shaping standards and mentoring technical teams
• High-level capacity to inform strategic business decisions and resolve critical execution constraints

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commissioning Certification from ACG, BCxA, or ASHRAE
• Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
• Project experience in healthcare and higher education settings
• Chilled Water, Heating Water, Steam, and Tower Water system project experience
• Project experience with hydronic system distribution, including centralized and multi-plant system configurations
• Building automation, controls, and systems integration project experience
•  Experience with AutoCAD and REVIT software

Travel Requirements:

• 30-50% travel required for this position
