AI Summary

The Technical Project Manager will translate business needs into clear requirements and manage the engineering queue from intake through release. They will coordinate cross-functional work, ensure quality assurance, and perform small technical fixes using assisted coding tools.

Gumball builds consumer web experiences and the internal tools used to manage them. Our work spans multiple brands and often combines product requirements, design, compliance, partner integrations, and engineering.

We are hiring a Technical Project Manager to turn business needs into clear, buildable work and guide that work from intake through release. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who is comfortable working closely with engineers, reviewing smaller changes, and using assisted coding tools to ship limited fixes.

What you will do

  • Turn stakeholder requests into clear requirements, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and test plans before engineering begins.
  • Manage intake and triage. Identify duplicate, incomplete, blocked, or low-priority work and, as you learn the products, take increasing ownership of what is ready to enter the engineering queue.
  • Coordinate work that crosses brands, products, or teams without allowing requirements and decisions to fragment across conversations.
  • Keep Linear current and make each ticket the reliable record of scope, decisions, ownership, and status.
  • Work with engineers to identify technical constraints, separate front-end, backend, data, and integration work, and surface missing decisions early.
  • Coordinate quality assurance with stakeholders and engineering. Make sure important user journeys are tested on the devices customers use and that results are recorded.
  • Review smaller pull requests for alignment with the ticket, obvious implementation risk, and test evidence. Escalate larger or riskier changes to the Engineering Lead.
  • Use Large Language Model (LLM)-assisted coding tools to deliver small, well-scoped fixes. You are responsible for understanding the proposed change, reviewing the diff, testing the result, and following the normal release process.
  • Guide work through development, quality assurance, technical review, and production release. Communicate what is moving, what is blocked, who owns the next action, and what is ready to ship.
  • Support production incidents when assigned by the Engineering Lead.

What we are looking for

  • Experience managing software delivery for a small, fast-moving engineering team.
  • Strong requirements writing: you can turn an incomplete request into behavior an engineer can build and another person can verify.
  • Working knowledge of modern web applications, browser behavior, application programming interfaces (APIs), databases, and GitHub pull requests.
  • Enough code literacy to review a focused diff, recognize when a change exceeds your depth, and safely deliver a small fix with assisted coding.
  • Experience coordinating quality assurance and releases across technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Clear written communication and disciplined follow-through.
  • Availability during the team’s Eastern Time workday.

Helpful, not required

  • Experience with Linear, GitHub, Slack, Next.js, or TypeScript.
  • Experience with consumer web forms, multi-brand products, compliance-sensitive changes, affiliate marketing, or partner integrations.
  • Experience using LLM-assisted development tools in a controlled review and release process.

How the team works

You report to the Engineering Lead and work directly with engineers and stakeholders. Engineers own feature implementation. You own clarity, coordination, and delivery, with room to handle smaller technical changes yourself. The Engineering Lead retains responsibility for high-risk technical review, production decisions, and incident assignments.
