The Technical Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of IT projects, including migrations, security projects, and cloud deployments for healthcare clients. This includes managing scopes, budgets, and timelines while coordinating between internal engineers and third-party vendors.
Company Overview
True North ITG is a trusted IT services provider dedicated to delivering personalized and effective technology solutions to small and medium-sized businesses in the healthcare space. Since 2001, we have focused on understanding our clients’ unique needs to support their growth and success through tailored IT strategies.
The Role
The Technical Project Manager owns delivery. You take assigned work — migrations, security projects, cloud deployments, infrastructure refreshes, EHR-adjacent implementations — and drive it to completion. On time. On budget. Without surprises.
This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving MSP environment. You will run multiple concurrent projects across a portfolio of healthcare clients, coordinate engineers and vendors, manage scope and risk, and keep everyone — clients included — informed and aligned. You don't need to be the deepest engineer in the room. You need to understand the technology well enough to ask the right questions, hold the team accountable, and protect the client's outcome.
What You'll Own
- End-to-end delivery. Manage the full lifecycle of technical projects from kickoff to close — scope, schedule, budget, resources, and risk.
- Cross-team coordination. Coordinate internal engineers, third-party vendors, and client stakeholders so that work moves forward and nothing falls through the cracks.
- Planning & reporting. Build and maintain project plans, timelines, and status reporting. Keep clients informed with clear, proactive communication.
- Scope & budget control. Track budget and hours against scope. Flag overruns early. Manage change requests before they become disputes.
- Risk management. Identify risks early — especially anything touching PHI, security, or compliance — and drive them to resolution before go-live.
- Governance & compliance. Confirm every project meets security and HIPAA requirements. Compliance is at the table on day one, not after the breach.
- Client relationship. Be the single point of accountability for the client. Set expectations, manage escalations, and own the outcome.
- Continuous improvement. Run structured project reviews and capture lessons learned. Help sharpen how we deliver.
What You Bring
- Experience. 3–5 years managing technical IT projects, ideally in a managed services (MSP) or cloud services (CSP) environment.
- MSP / CSP background. Hands-on experience running projects in a service provider setting — you know how billable hours, SOWs, and multi-client portfolios work.
- Technical fluency. Working knowledge of infrastructure, networking, cloud platforms (Microsoft 365/Azure), security fundamentals, and IT service delivery.
- Delivery record. Proven track record delivering multiple concurrent projects on time and on budget.
- Communication. Clear, direct communicator who can translate between engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Vendor management. Comfortable managing vendors, contracts, and third-party dependencies.
- Self-management. Fully remote and self-directed — you manage your time, your projects, and your commitments without being chased.
Strongly Preferred
- Healthcare IT. Direct experience delivering IT projects for healthcare organizations — practices, clinics, or health systems.
- Compliance knowledge. Working knowledge of HIPAA, PHI handling, and healthcare compliance requirements.
- Certification. PMP, CAPM, CompTIA Project+, or equivalent project management experience.
- MSP tooling. Familiarity with PSA/RMM tools (ConnectWise, Autotask, or similar) and project management platforms.
- Clinical context. Exposure to EHR systems, healthcare workflows, or clinical IT environments.
