Job Description

Job Summary
The Associate SW Engineer role is designed for individuals seeking to develop foundational technical and professional skills in software engineering. This position is part of an apprenticeship program that combines classroom training, hands-on mentorship, and real-world projects to launch a career in software engineering at Visa. Apprentices participate in a structured bootcamp followed by on-the-job training, receiving coaching from technology leaders and engaging in career development workshops. Assignments are determined by skill sets and team needs, with opportunities to contribute to technology solutions that support Visa’s global payments network.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain applications using Golang or Java, following clean code and best software engineering practices.
• Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure microservices architecture.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to refine and deliver technical solutions aligned with business needs.
• Leverage AWS services such as SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, S3, and EventBridge in day-to-day development.
• Use Terraform to provision, maintain, and evolve AWS infrastructure.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and system robustness. Monitor application health and performance using observability tools (metrics, logs, alerts).
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Contribute to architectural and technical discussions, supporting continuous improvement and innovation.
• Participate in classroom and on-the-job training to develop technical skills in software engineering.
• Contribute to real-world projects under the guidance of experienced mentors.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development, testing, and maintenance of software applications.
• Engage in career development workshops to build professional skills.
• Complete assignments based on individual skill sets and team requirements.
• Support the implementation and evolution of technology solutions for payment processing and related services.

This is a remote position. A remote position does not require job duties be performed within proximity of a Visa office location. #LI-Remote

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• For this role, you must be based in Brazil.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in English at B2 level or above (Upper-Intermediate)
• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent or relevant work experience.
• Experience in participating in structured training programs or apprenticeships.
• Experience in collaborating within a team environment.
• Experience in following technical instructions and applying learned concepts to real-world scenarios.
• Experience in using basic computer applications and digital tools.
• 1+ years of experience as a Software Developer.
• 1+ years of experience with Golang or Java
• Advanced Git user resolves team version control issues.
• Writes and validates unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end tests.
• Knowledge of Swagger, flow diagrams, and API documentation, supports DEVEX and external publishing.
• Relational database design and non-relational strategy, effective data modeling.

Preferred Qualifications

• Work with critical systems is a differential Understanding of observability practices (monitoring, tracing, alerting).
• Experience with Financial Industry or Payments / Authorization Systems.
