Welcome to Environmental Intellect (Ei)—where we take massive, complicated industrial facilities and turn them into incredibly detailed digital environments.
We're a remote-first, globe-trotting crew of field experts, survey pros, CAD gurus, engineers, software developers, and problem-solvers—and we're looking for another adventurer to join the team.
We're hiring a Survey & 3D Scanning Technician to travel to Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and industrial facilities and capture the real world using survey equipment, mobile mapping systems, and 3D laser scanners.
If you've worked as a Survey Rodman, Instrument Operator, Survey Technician, Reality Capture Technician, or 3D Scanner, or just have Industrial or Plant Experience, we want to hear from you.
And yes—we really mean travel. This role is approximately 80–90% travel.
Also, there is an element of working at height and very occasionally, working offshore.
If airports, hard hats, steel toed boots, cool technology, and giant industrial facilities sound better than sitting behind the same desk every day... keep reading.
Your mission is pretty simple:
Capture the facility. Capture it accurately. And make sure we have what we need before you leave.
You'll work alongside Ei's Reality Capture team to collect accurate spatial data that becomes the foundation of our Digital Twin technology.
You may:
Because flying back across the country or the world to capture the one area everyone missed isn't nearly as fun as it sounds.
You don't need to be a 3D scanning expert on Day One.
If you come from the survey world, that's an excellent foundation for what we do.
We're especially interested in experience with:
If you understand that "close enough" isn't actually close enough, you're speaking our language.
Now you've really got our attention.
Drone experience isn't required, but it's a big plus as we continue expanding the ways we capture industrial facilities.
We'd love to hear about experience with:
If you know how survey + scanning + drones can work together to capture a facility, definitely tell us about it.
Technical skills matter, but so does how you work.
You'll thrive here if you're:
We're putting this in bold because we don't want anyone missing it:
This role travels approximately 80–90% of the time.
You'll go where the projects are, which may mean several days or weeks in the field before heading home and gearing up for the next adventure.
You'll see places most people never see, work inside massive industrial facilities, use some seriously cool technology, and probably develop very strong opinions about hotel pillows.
Ei coordinates approved project travel, including flights, rental cars, lodging, applicable per diem, and qualifying offshore/international travel stipends.
If you want the same commute and the same desk every day, this probably isn't your gig.
If you're thinking, "Where are we going next?"—now we're talking.
Because we work in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical facilities, you must:
Ei offers:
Maybe you're a survey tech ready to jump into 3D reality capture. Maybe you're already running scanners and want bigger, more interesting projects. Or maybe you're the person who can run a total station, grab a VLX, or start talking about flying the site with a drone.
Those are our kind of people.
So pack your steel boots. Charge the batteries. Grab the scanner.
And maybe bring a neck pillow.
