NWHSU is seeking an experienced and visionary Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Human Performance, Sport Science, and Performance Data Analytics to collaborate in the development of an innovative graduate-level academic program: the Master of Health (MHS) Science in Human Performance.

The Master of Health Science in Human Performance prepares graduates to support performance, readiness, and recovery through interdisciplinary, evidence-informed approaches. The curriculum integrates sport science theory, needs analysis, assessment and monitoring, and performance data interpretation to prepare graduates for careers in sport, clinical, and applied human performance settings.

Position Information:

The SME will provide consultation and leadership in the design and development of the program in collaboration with the internal experts, faculty, instructional designers, and other internal/external stakeholders. They will be responsible for creating curriculum for the data analytics specialization in the MHS in Human Performance.

  • Build upon and refine current curriculum strategy, mapping, and degree framework
  • Identify, refine, and develop courses and content
  • Advise on industry trends, competencies, and workforce alignment
  • Support & advise Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) processes and mapping
  • Support & advise on certifications and credentialing pathways aligned with career outcomes
  • Recommend instructional materials, assessments, and delivery methodologies
  • Ensure academic rigor, industry relevance, and applied learning integration
  • Participate in scheduled planning meetings and curriculum reviews
  • Identify and connect additional SMEs or industry partners as needed
  • Support development of quality pathways, partnerships, and experiential opportunities

This is a non-benefits eligible, independent contractor agreement.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Exercise Science, Human Performance, Sport Science, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Data Analytics, Strength & Conditioning, Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, or related field
  • Experience working in collegiate athletics, professional sports, tactical performance, clinical performance, or applied sport science environments
  • Expertise in athlete monitoring systems, wearable technologies, performance testing, and/or performance analytics platforms
  • Competency and expert in data analytics, particularly in how it relates to human performance
  • Experience in higher education curriculum development, preferred
  • Strong understanding of current industry demands and emerging technologies
  • Ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams

The ideal candidate brings both academic and industry experience and understands how to bridge science, technology, and real-world application into a rigorous and market-relevant graduate curriculum rooted in human performance data analytics.

Compensation: $4,500 per class
