The Stewardship Specialist, Principal Gifts (PRI) will carry out their responsibilities as a member of the Stewardship team within the Donor Marketing & Engagement team, and an embedded partner on the PRI team. They will be responsible for strategic thought partnership with fundraisers and tactical deployment of stewardship for the PRI supporter audience. 

This is a non-supervisory position.

The Stewardship Specialist, Principal Gifts is expected to work a full-time (37.5 hours/week) schedule, and may work remote from the following locations: New York, NY; Washington, DC; or select East Coast markets in the United States. This position requires travel for events, planning meetings, and retreats. A valid U.S. driver’s license is preferred.

What You'll Do

Strategic Partnership & Experience Planning (30%)

  • Act as primary stewardship thought partner to the Principal Gifts (PRI) team, co-designing and building programming and capacity to steward the PRI supporter audience.
  • Operationalize an individualized supporter experience planning program, partnering with PRI fundraisers to create and track custom plans.

Special Projects & Stewardship Deployment (50%)

  • Explore and activate/execute opportunities to steward and cultivate individual PRI supporters, including in-person and virtual events/experiences, trips, and other curated touchpoints.
  • Oversee and deploy PRI stewardship communications, including creative ideation, template development, and coordination to execute, often with organizational leadership.

Audience Representation & Coordination (20%)

  • Serve as first point of contact for PRI fundraisers considering new projects or seeking to engage with Donor Marketing & Engagement team offerings (stewardship, communications, events, and trips).
  • Partner with Donor Marketing & Engagement team members to ensure strategic deployment of core programming to PRI supporters.

Ongoing Learning

  • Actively pursue professional development and contribute to a culture of learning by building skills and sharing knowledge.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of work experience in development focused on principal-level gifts (donor relations or stewardship preferred)
  • Budgetary experience preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of donor relations/stewardship best practices required; experience with campaign stewardship preferred
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, oversee, and deploy donor relations/stewardship programming independently and in collaboration with fundraisers and other internal/external stakeholders
  • Strong critical and innovative thinking skills, as well as adaptability, including the ability to work strategically, creatively, and efficiently in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to respond quickly to stakeholders and craft audience-appropriate messaging
  • Strong general computer skills, including data processing and entry, and experience with a fundraising database application, preferably Salesforce

Salaries at Earthjustice are determined by working location and are commensurate with the experience required. 

The annual salary range for this role in New York, NY is $107,500 - $119,400

The annual salary range for this role in Washington, DC or Boston, MA is $102,200 - $113,500

The annual salary range for this role in Philadelphia, PA is $96,800 - $107,500

The annual salary range for this role in Miami, FL is $91,400 - $101,500
