About the role

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer for our Users Vertical. This vertical plays a critical and dual role in our engineering organization: on one hand, accelerating and optimizing the onboarding funnel so users are ready to buy in the shortest time possible with the least friction. On the other, designing and delivering the core user management services that serve as the foundation for every other business unit at Cashea.

This is a hands-on Staff role. You set the technical direction, make the architectural calls, and own how these systems behave under extreme, concurrent load. When a third-party KYC provider goes down, the registration experience shouldn't even flinch β€” and that's on you. If you're energized by high-performance distributed API design, resilient identity/fraud integrations, and building internal platforms that scale, this one's for you. πŸš€

Responsibilities

  • Optimize the onboarding funnel: Design, scale, and streamline the registration, identity verification (KYC, KYB), and fraud prevention flow, ensuring the process is fast, secure, and frictionless.

  • Build and evolve core user services: Lead the architecture of the foundational identity, profile, status, and user preference services consumed across the entire Cashea ecosystem, ensuring high availability and low latency.

  • Orchestrate resilient integrations: Design robust, fault-tolerant integrations with external vendors (biometrics engines, fraud prevention tools, KYC providers), ensuring third-party outages don't impact the registration experience.

  • Define the user event architecture: Model and asynchronously propagate the user lifecycle (e.g., registration, tier changes, profile updates) to other Cashea verticals to enable real-time business decisions.

  • Set development standards and guidelines: Establish clean code practices, rigorous testing, advanced observability, and safe rollback strategies that raise the technical maturity of the users vertical teams.

  • Mentor and drive technical influence: Work closely with tech leads, product managers, and engineering directors to translate product vision into a solid architecture roadmap, while guiding and empowering the growth of senior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience: Strong track record as a Staff or Principal Engineer designing and operating complex distributed systems at scale, ideally in identity platforms, user core services, or high-traffic onboarding funnels.

  • Strong backend background: Advanced proficiency in Node.js and NestJS (TypeScript), or the ability to technically lead in this stack coming from equivalent high-performance technologies such as Rust and/or Go.

  • Systems design and resilience: Deep knowledge of architectural patterns (Hexagonal Architecture, DDD, CQRS), efficient REST/gRPC API design, relational database optimization (PostgreSQL), and smart caching strategies (Redis) to handle concurrent traffic spikes.

  • Asynchronous mindset: Solid experience with message queues and event streaming (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Pub/Sub) to decouple registration flows and complex integrations.

  • Third-party integrations and complex flows: Experience integrating and abstracting third-party services (KYC, biometrics, data enrichment), including implementing fallback patterns, circuit breakers, and intelligent retries.

  • Pragmatic, builder mentality: Hands-on approach β€” able to conceptualize long-term solutions without sacrificing the agility to deliver fast value and write high-quality reference code for the team.

  • Spanish and English proficiency.
