About the Role
GreenBlue Urban is seeking an experienced and motivated Site Manager to oversee the 
safe and successful delivery of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and associated 
civil engineering works across multiple projects throughout Northern England.
Working closely with the Contracts Manager and Project Managers, you will be 
responsible for managing day-to-day site operations, coordinating labour, 
subcontractors and suppliers, maintaining high standards of health & safety, quality and 
environmental compliance, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme 
and within budget.


This role would suit an experienced Site Manager from a groundworks, highways, 
drainage, utilities or civil engineering background who enjoys taking ownership of 
projects and leading teams to deliver exceptional results.


Key Responsibilities
Site Management
• Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of allocated construction 
sites. 
• Plan and coordinate all site activities to ensure projects are delivered safely and 
efficiently. 
• Supervise site teams, subcontractors and suppliers. 
• Allocate labour and resources effectively to meet programme requirements. 
• Monitor productivity and ensure works progress in accordance with project 
programmes. 
• Identify programme risks and implement corrective actions where necessary. 



Health, Safety & Compliance
• Promote an excellent health and safety culture across all projects. 
• Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and all relevant legislation. 
• Deliver site inductions and daily briefings. 
• Carry out Toolbox Talks and safety inspections. 
• Ensure RAMS are implemented and followed. 
• Complete regular site audits and inspections. 
• Maintain site records including: 
o Daily diaries 
o Plant inspections 
o Site inspections 
o Accident and Near Miss reporting 
o Environmental inspections 
• Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed when working within schools and 
public environments. 



Quality Management
• Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications and client requirements. 
• Monitor workmanship throughout construction. 
• Carry out quality inspections. 
• Record and manage defects. 
• Manage snagging and project handovers. 
• Ensure all QA documentation is completed accurately. 



Labour & Subcontractor Management
• Manage subcontractor performance. 
• Coordinate specialist contractors. 
• Monitor attendance and productivity. 
• Ensure subcontractors comply with company standards. 
• Resolve on-site issues quickly and professionally. 
• Build positive working relationships across all site teams. 



Materials & Plant
• Plan material requirements. 
• Coordinate deliveries. 
• Manage plant and equipment. 
• Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained. 
• Prevent delays caused by material shortages. 
• Minimise waste and unnecessary costs. 



Client & Stakeholder Management
• Act as the primary site contact for clients. 
• Attend progress meetings. 
• Liaise with schools, local authorities and stakeholders. 
• Provide professional updates throughout project delivery. 
• Ensure minimal disruption to occupied environments. 



Commercial Awareness
• Assist Project Managers with: 
o Progress reporting 
o Variations 
o Additional works 
o Labour tracking 
o Plant utilisation 
o Material usage 
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs. 
• Report potential commercial risks early. 



Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records including:
• Site diaries 
• Daily progress reports 
• Labour returns 
• Plant returns 
• Delivery records 
• Quality inspections 
• Photographic records 
• As-built information 
• Health & Safety documentation 



Skills & Experience
Essential
• Previous experience as a Site Manager within construction or civil engineering. 
• Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour. 
• Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage or highways construction. 
• Excellent organisational skills. 
• Strong leadership and communication abilities. 
• Ability to read construction drawings. 
• Experience managing multiple concurrent work activities. 
• Good IT skills including Microsoft Office. 
• Full UK Driving Licence. 



Desirable
• Experience delivering Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS). 
• Experience working within school environments. 
• NRSWA Supervisor. 
• Temporary Works awareness. 
• First Aid at Work. 
• CAT & Genny training. 
• Street Works experience. 
• Environmental awareness training. 


Qualifications

• SMSTS 
• CSCS Manager Card 
• Full UK Driving Licence 



Desirable
• First Aid at Work

• IOSH Managing Safely 
• CPCS or NPORS Plant Competencies
