Design and implement a cloud-based SharePoint Online environment to modernize the DND Intranet for the Royal Canadian Navy. This includes migrating legacy content, establishing long-term governance, and providing training to content owners.

This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Expert/Architect to support a Department of National Defence (DND) Intranet modernization project for a Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) Fleet Maintenance Facility (FMF). The facility is migrating away from legacy SharePoint on Premises (SPoP) pages and unregulated network drives toward an integrated, cloud-based SharePoint Online (SPO) environment aligned with the Microsoft 365-based Defence365 suite.

You will work under the direction of the unit's Information Management Officer (IMO) to design and build the new SPO environment, migrate legacy content, and help the organization establish sustainable governance for the long term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the current SharePoint/Intranet landscape and document findings
  • Analyze business data and functionality needs across the organization
  • Design and stand up a new, integrated SharePoint Online environment
  • Plan and execute content mapping and migration from legacy systems
  • Perform cleanup and validation of the new SPO destination environment
  • Participate in quality validation of the completed solution
  • Support discovery and training sessions with content owners
  • Help define the long-term operating model, governance, and permissions structure
  • Contribute to support and governance plans for internal staff to maintain the environment going forward
  • Coordinate as needed with a parallel Website/WIM migration stream

Work Arrangement

This role is performed remotely. A DND-issued, pre-configured computer will be provided for accessing the DND-controlled DWAN Intranet and Microsoft 365/D365 environment. The resource is responsible for safeguarding all information and assets while working from a private, non-corporate location. No travel is required.

Requirements

  • Current certification in the Microsoft 365 Ecosystem
  • Current certification in Microsoft 365 Fundamentals
  • Minimum 24 months of experience planning or participating in the implementation of Microsoft 365-based solutions for a large organization (1,000+ personnel)
  • At least one demonstrable project (minimum 6 months duration), completed within the last three years, for a large organization (1,000+ personnel) involving Microsoft 365 implementation
  • Ability to obtain or hold a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with an internal IMO and a parallel website implementation team
