Duties include, but are not limited to, maintaining and troubleshooting a variety of computer hardware and software programs, analyzing student data, and assisting users (both internal and external to SFS) with functionality/questions. The SFS Systems Support Specialist serves as an additional SFS department liaison with all data systems in addressing issues involving department technical procedures as well as financial aid applications and loan applications. The SFS Systems Support Specialist is responsible for data transmission between PowerFAIDS, Jenzabar, EdConnect, FPS, NSLDS, COD and other third-party systems. This role includes processing aid and FAFSA information in a timely manner according to federal, state, and institutional policy and supporting SFS counselors and parents/students as needed in their loan or application process.     ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS    Reports to: Director of SFS Systems   Supervisory Responsibility: N/A   Indirect Supervisory Responsibility: N/A     ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but is not limited to the following:    • Have working knowledge of federal/state financial assistance regulations and SEU policies in awarding financial aid to ensure compliance with and audit requirements. • Keep up to date on federal regulations pertaining to all educational programs. • Keep up to date on changes to Jenzabar and PowerFaids software (webinars, etc.) • Process admission/financial aid data files weekly via upload for statistical analysis. • Provide support with aid disbursements through our FAS (PowerFAIDS) to Jenzabar • Resolve Loan and Pell originations/certifications and resolutions to edits/rejects • Manages data import and export from the federal/state data system for federal/state programs between software, internal departments, and applicable government sites (By way of Ed Connect, PF, COD, etc.) • Monitors and reviews all downloaded federal daily files such as ISIRs, Entrance Counseling, MPNs, etc. • Run the exchange of information process between Jenzabar and PowerFaids, and all necessary posting of data for SFS functionality. • Reconciliation of funds between PowerFAIDS, COD, and the Business Office • Regular review and update as necessary of origination and disbursement selection sets and reports in PowerFAIDS to ensure timely and accurate aid disbursement. • Run and monitor the anticipated aid process. • Certify and disburse private loans through ScholarNet and other third parties’ software. • Implement or modify procedures, forms, and other departmental processes to facilitate efficiency and accurate information • Run reports and proactively seek out and identifying non-compliant awarding or disbursement gaps • Streamline processes using available technology • Other duties as assigned       ADDITIONAL/NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES      •Special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Director to enhance the level of service and commitment to students, their families, and SEU    All remaining duties are considered "nonessential" within the context of the ADA, which means that the function could be reassigned to another employee in order to allow a disabled individual to hold the position.  Alternatively, the manager could try to provide a reasonable accommodation so that the disabled individual could perform the function.    LOCATION    Remote (working from home/off-site)  Qualifications  EDUCATION      Required Education:   Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required   Preferred Education:   Bachelor's in education, computer science, business, accounting or other related field.   LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS   N/A   EXPERIENCE    Required:   At least 1 year of financial aid experience is required   Preferred:   Minimum three years of financial aid or related experience is preferred       KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES   Required:   • Proven customer service skills and enthusiasm for providing exceptional service to diverse populations including undergraduate and graduate students, parents, staff, faculty, and other constituencies • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and analytical skills • Experience in multi-task and detail operations • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively towards the optimum delivery of service to students/parents • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding student financial assistance preferred      Preferred:   Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly SQL, Access and Excel Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate limited evening and weekend hours Preference given to candidates with PowerFAIDS and Jenzabar software experience   WORK ENVIRONMENT    All employees are responsible for maintaining an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, harassment, including sexual harassment.    This position is considered non-essential for the purposes of Emergency Response.   Physical Requirements:    Office Environment: Ability to work primarily in an office setting, which involves sitting for extended periods. Computer Use: Proficiency in using computers for various tasks, which requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for typing and handling office equipment. Communication: Strong verbal communication skills for meetings, presentations, and interactions with staff, students, and parents. Mobility: Capability to move around the office and campus as needed for meetings and events. Lifting: Occasionally lift and carry items such as files, documents, or small office equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. Visual Requirements: Ability to read and interpret data on computer screens and printed documents. Hearing and Speaking: Adequate hearing to participate in conversations and phone calls, and clear speaking ability for effective communication.   Travel:   None   Schedule:   Monday - Friday 8am to 4:30pm   TRAINING   All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated. Required compliance training is as follows:   PowerFAIDS and Jenzabar software experience and training Financial aid knowledge and training   SAFETY    SEU promotes a safe working environment. Employees are responsible for completing assigned tasks safely and efficiently, and supervisors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment.  Employees must report any unsafe work conditions or practices, as well as any near-miss incidents, to their supervisor and Risk Management.  Work-related injuries must be immediately reported to Security and Human Resources. When life or limb are at risk, please dial 911. Supervisors and employees should ensure that injury/accident reports are submitted to the Office of Human Resources within 24 hours of the incident.  Emergency Employees report for or must remain at work in emergency situations.  Dismissal or closure announcements do not apply to this position, unless instructed otherwise by your direct supervisor or a member of the Leadership Team.     SCREENING   All full-time positions at SEU are deemed security-sensitive and require background checks.
