About the Role

As a Technical Specialist within Supplier and Distribution Quality, this role is responsible for ensuring suppliers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), distributors, and service providers consistently deliver quality products and services that meet company, regulatory, and customer requirements.

The position leads supplier qualification, auditing, performance monitoring, and corrective action activities while driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Key responsibilities include supporting new product development by providing pre-market quality engineering expertise, collaborating with component engineering teams on supplier selection, product acceptance strategies, control plans, and receiving inspection requirements, and ensuring suppliers are qualified and compliant throughout the product lifecycle.

The role serves as a subject matter expert for distribution quality, focusing on onboarding and qualifying 3PL and distributor activities, managing complex quality issues, influencing cross-functional stakeholders, and implementing process improvements to enhance product quality, reliability, and compliance.

Working with a high degree of autonomy, the individual leads projects, mentors team members, provides strategic recommendations, and builds consensus across internal and external partners to achieve organizational objectives and strengthen overall supplier quality performance.

This is a fully remote opportunity with flexibility required to support North America, EMEA and LATAM as needed.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Ensures that suppliers (including 3PL and distributors) deliver quality parts, materials, and services.

  • Qualifies suppliers (including 3PLs and distributors) according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness.

  • Monitors parts (or services) from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur.

  • Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation.

  • Some individuals may have responsibilities that include Pre-Market Supplier Quality or Distribution Quality and duties may include: Provides Pre-Market Quality Engineering support to New Product Development (NPD) working in partnership with the Component Engineering and Post-Market Supplier Quality Teams, to deliver quality parts, materials, and services, prevent defects, and allow Medtronic to provide customers with the highest quality and reliable products. Support the qualification of Value Added Service activities (packaging and labeling) at DCs and 3PLs.

  • Provides technical guidance and quality compliance for Supplier Quality engagement throughout the NPD lifecycle on newly qualified parts (or services) from NPD and implementing strategies for driving product quality and continuous improvement, ensuring purchased products, components and services are executed and qualified in accordance to applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements.

  • Collaborates with Component Engineers to develop and deliver the Product Acceptance Sampling Strategy, Approved Supplier List coordination, Supplier Owned Quality deployment, and Control Plans for new products.

  • Define Receiving Inspection requirements as required and associated test method validation for all internal Medtronic Test Methods.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$87,000.00 - $149,000.00


 

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).
