The Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB) is seeking a highly capable and collaborative Senior Risk Advisor to join our HR, Risk & WHS team. This opportunity will see you play a key role in supporting enterprise risk management, compliance oversight, risk reporting, audit actions and control effectiveness across CEDB’s central office and 33 schools.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of HR, Risk & WHS, the Senior Risk Advisor supports the coordination, monitoring and continuous improvement of CEDB’s enterprise risk management framework. The role provides high-level advice, reporting and assurance support in relation to enterprise risk, compliance obligations, control effectiveness, audit actions and emerging risks.

This role may be based from the Bathurst Office, hybrid, or remote by agreement. Some travel to CEDB sites may be required from time to time.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of CEDB’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework, Risk Appetite Statement and related procedures
  • Maintain and coordinate updates to CEDB’s enterprise risk register
  • Work with risk owners to identify, assess, monitor and escalate new, emerging and material risks
  • Prepare risk reports, dashboards, briefing material and governance documentation
  • Monitor progress against risk treatment plans, control improvement actions and agreed mitigation strategies
  • Support internal audit activity, including coordination of information, evidence and stakeholder responses
  • Monitor and report on internal and external audit actions to ensure agreed actions are progressed
  • Provide advice to stakeholders on risk ratings, controls, treatment actions and risk management practices
  • Support compliance and regulatory monitoring, including identifying compliance risks and mitigation strategies
  • Administer and support the effective use of CEDB’s risk and compliance system
  • Develop guidance material, communication resources and initiatives to improve risk awareness and capability
  • Build effective working relationships with school and office leaders to support consistent risk and compliance practices

About you (Selection Criteria)

We are looking for someone able to align with the following selection criteria:

  • Demonstrates a commitment to the values and ethos of the Catholic tradition
  • Has relevant tertiary qualifications in risk management, compliance, governance, business, law, audit or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience
  • Has significant experience in a risk, compliance, governance, audit or assurance role, preferably within a regulated environment
  • Holds or is eligible to hold a valid Working with Children Check
