Description
As Emumba's Senior Platform Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in building and operating secure, production-grade infrastructure that powers modern AI platforms, distributed systems, and enterprise applications. This role focuses on designing resilient on-premises and air-gapped environments, enabling engineering teams to deploy software reliably, securely, and at scale. You'll help shape the foundation that our developers and customers rely on every day.
Key Responsibilities
Build Production Platform Infrastructure
- Design, deploy, and maintain Kubernetes-based platforms in on-premises and air-gapped environments.
- Build reusable infrastructure using Terraform and Helm.
- Improve platform scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
- Deploy and manage distributed infrastructure including Kafka, object storage, messaging platforms, and background processing services.
- Support data platforms such as Spark clusters or Lakehouse architectures where required.
- Ensure high availability, resilience, and disaster recovery across production systems.
- Build production-ready CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Implement monitoring, dashboards, alerting, and observability using Grafana and Prometheus.
- Improve incident response, operational health, and platform performance.
- Implement secure deployment pipelines and infrastructure security controls.
- Design access management using RBAC, secrets management, and least-privilege principles.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers to productionize services and continuously improve developer experience.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- 5+ years of Platform Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
- Strong Terraform experience.
- Strong experience creating and maintaining Helm Charts.
- Experience building and operating production CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience deploying and managing production infrastructure in on-premises or air-gapped environments.
- Experience with distributed systems such as Kafka, message queues, or background processing services.
- Experience with Grafana, monitoring, metrics, dashboards, and alerting.
- Experience implementing deployment security, RBAC, access control, and infrastructure security best practices.
- Experience with MinIO or similar object storage solutions.
- Experience deploying API services in production environments.
- Working knowledge of AWS.
- Comfortable writing code for automation and platform tooling (Python preferred).
Nice-to-Have
- Experience with Spark, Lakehouse architectures, or modern data platforms.
- Experience with GitOps tools such as ArgoCD or FluxCD.
- Experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience building or deploying backend API services.
- Experience supporting AI/ML infrastructure.
- Knowledge of service mesh technologies.
- Experience with distributed storage systems.
