Senior Manager, Fraud

What you'll do:

Underdog is looking for a Senior Manager, Fraud to own and grow our fraud program. This is a builder's role: you will take an evolving fraud landscape and turn it into strong, well-instrumented rules, controls, and decisioning strategies. You will work across the full fraud lifecycle, partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Data/Analytics, and drive ambiguous problems through to implementation.

This role is built around fraud expertise and judgment. Success will be measured by the strength of the fraud program you build and your ability to influence and align teams across the company. 

• Own and grow the fraud program - find the gaps in how we detect, decide, and investigate fraud today, then build or fix what closes them
• Lead and develop a high-performing fraud team - set clear priorities, strengthen fraud judgment, and hold the team accountable for measurable outcomes
• Design the decisioning strategy - build the rules, signals, and logic that carry a case from detection through mitigation and measurement
• Run the tools yourself - configure and tune platforms like Sift, Sardine, or similar to sharpen detection accuracy and cut false positives
• Partner directly with Product and Engineering to scope, build, and ship new fraud capabilities and controls
• Work the data - spot fraud trends, test hypotheses, and prove out what your controls are actually doing, alongside Data/Analytics
• Push automation forward - look for every chance to put AI, automation, and new data sources to work on fraud
• Drive it across teams - take on ambiguous fraud problems and carry them through to implementation, pulling in Product, Engineering, Data, Operations, and Legal/Compliance as needed

Who you are:

• You have 5+ years in fraud, risk, payments risk, or a similar function
• You’ve led and developed fraud professionals, setting clear priorities, strengthening their judgment, and holding the team accountable for results
• You're hands-on with fraud tooling - platforms like Sift, Sardine, or similar decisioning tools
• You know the full fraud lifecycle inside and out, and can design rules, controls, signals, and decisioning strategies across it
• You're fluent in data - spotting trends, forming hypotheses, and measuring performance alongside Data/Analytics
• You've partnered directly with Product and Engineering to build or ship fraud capabilities
• You think AI and automation first, always looking for new tools and data to apply
• You can take an ambiguous problem and drive it to implementation across multiple teams

Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $140,000 and $175,000, plus target equity. Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, skills and expertise, interview performance, and other market considerations.
