The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will own the cloud infrastructure, focusing on making it safer, more predictable, and easier to operate through hands-on architecture, reliability, and security work. Key duties include designing and hardening AWS infrastructure, implementing Infrastructure as Code, improving network architecture, and strengthening data pipelines.
About the role
As our Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will take ownership of our cloud infrastructure and make it safer, more predictable, and easier to operate. This is a hands-on role in a lean team, with real responsibility for architecture, reliability, and security. You will work closely with backend and data science teams and act as the technical authority for infrastructure decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design, harden, and operate our AWS infrastructure with a focus on reliability, security, and clear failure boundaries.
- Introduce and own Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent) for core production infrastructure.
- Improve network architecture, access control, and blast-radius isolation across services.
- Strengthen data ingestion and processing pipelines to handle bursty workloads safely.
- Own CI/CD infrastructure (GitHub Actions) for infrastructure and application deployments.
- Implement guardrails, monitoring, and alerting (CloudWatch, Datadog) to detect misconfigurations and failures early.
- Define and maintain backup, recovery, and incident response procedures.
- Work closely with application engineers and data scientists to enforce sane operational limits.
- Actively improve security posture and support compliance requirements (e.g. ISO27001).
- Mentor team members and raise the overall infrastructure maturity of the company.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Cloud / Infrastructure / DevOps roles with real production ownership.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS
- Proven experience using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation).
- Solid understanding of cloud security, IAM, and least-privilege design.
- Experience operating data-heavy or event-driven systems.
- Experience with observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and push back when something is unsafe.
- Startup mindset: pragmatic, hands-on, and comfortable with ambiguity.
