Senior Healthcare Integration Engineer (Remote Opportunity)

We are currently looking for a Senior Healthcare Integration Engineer for a 100% remote position supporting a large federal government healthcare modernization project. This role will develop, implement, configure, and support source-system interfaces, integration configurations, data pipelines, and exchange services across complex healthcare integration environments. The engineer will support EHR, claims, public-health, HIE, and other healthcare data sources while performing data mapping, transformation, routing, interface deployment, troubleshooting, and production support.

The role operates in a highly collaborative environment, working with senior integration engineers, FHIR engineers, onboarding teams, testers, vendors, and facility technical teams to resolve integration issues, support successful deployments, and maintain reliable, secure, and scalable healthcare integrations.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, configure, deploy, and support source-system interfaces, integration configurations, data pipelines, and exchange services across healthcare integration environments.
• Evaluate source-system requirements, interface specifications, data flows, and integration dependencies to configure and maintain reliable, secure, and scalable integrations.
• Perform data mapping, transformation, message routing, interface configuration, defect resolution, integration testing, and production-support activities.
• Support integrations involving EHR, claims, public-health, HIE, FHIR, HL7, MLLP, and other healthcare data sources and technologies.
• Support facility and vendor onboarding by coordinating interface deployments, testing, troubleshooting, and technical implementation activities.
• Maintain interface configurations, implementation artifacts, technical runbooks, operational documentation, and other integration-related materials.
• Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field and 10+ years of related professional experience.
• Extensive experience with healthcare interoperability, source-system integration, interface configuration, and enterprise application integration.
• Strong experience with data mapping, transformation, message routing, interface deployment, and troubleshooting across complex healthcare data flows.
• Experience with healthcare integration technologies and standards such as HL7, FHIR, MLLP, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Strong analytical and debugging skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex integration defects and data-flow issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work autonomously with technical teams, vendors, and healthcare facility stakeholders.

Additional Qualifications

• Experience with Java, scripting, XML, JSON, SQL, healthcare interface engines, Apache NiFi, and enterprise integration technologies.
• Experience supporting EHR, claims, public-health, HIE, and FHIR-based integrations in enterprise healthcare environments.
• Experience with facility and vendor onboarding, integration testing, configuration management, source code management, and production support.
• Experience supporting federal healthcare programs or working with government healthcare organizations such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Health and Human Services, or Defense Health Agency is preferred.

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• All selected candidates must successfully complete a background check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government/Public Trust clearance, including required fingerprinting, when required for the position.
