The role involves managing financial reporting and budget monitoring for regenerative agriculture programs while ensuring compliance with donor requirements. Additionally, the specialist provides accounting support for local entities, including processing transactions and managing financial closings.

Do you have a passion for financial management, donor-funded projects, and sustainability? Would you like to contribute to impactful regenerative agriculture programmes while supporting finance operations across an international organization? If so, you may be the right fit for our Senior Finance Specialist position, based in either Italy, Poland or Vietnam.

What you can expect:

As our Senior Finance Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring sound financial management across both project and organizational finance activities. Working closely with the Group Senior Accounting Manager, Service Area Lead for Regenerative Agriculture, and Programme Manager Regenerative Agriculture, you will divide your time between supporting regenerative agriculture programmes and providing accounting and finance support for local entities and regional operations.

This role offers the opportunity to work with international funders, project teams, consultants, and finance colleagues while contributing to our mission of creating a more sustainable future.

Working with us is never routine so in the first year, you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.

  • Managing financial reporting for regenerative agriculture programmes and projects, ensuring compliance with funder requirements, contractual obligations, and donor reporting guidelines.

  • Monitoring project budgets, expenditures, and financial risks while supporting project partners, consultants, and service providers in financial reporting and expense management.

  • Processing accounting transactions, including expenses, client invoices, payroll journals, bank transactions, and other financial entries in accordance with organisational procedures.

  • Supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings, including the review of trial balances, financial statements, and reporting deliverables according to global timelines.

  • Advising colleagues and stakeholders on local accounting regulations, tax requirements, and financial compliance matters, including VAT, payroll tax, corporate income tax, and withholding tax.

  • Driving continuous improvement of financial procedures, reporting tools, and internal controls while building financial awareness and providing guidance to non-finance staff across programmes and projects.

Your first year with us:

Within three months, you will:

  • Complete onboarding for Preferred by Nature’s global finance system. Master internal expense tracking, invoicing workflows, and documentation maintenance protocols.

  • Deep-dive into specific funder agreements and guidelines. Review active budgets vs. actuals for the SER agricultural programs to understand specific donor compliance metrics and risk factors.

  • Take ownership of daily bank transactions, expense processing, and client invoicing. Familiarize yourself with the regional trial balance and local tax structures (VAT, CIT, WHT, and payroll tax regulations).

  • Establish regular touchpoints with your core network: the Group Senior Accounting Manager, Service Area Lead, and Programme Manager for Regenerative Agriculture.

Within six months, you will:

  • Independently prepare donor-facing financial reports for review. Establish a routine for tracking external partner, consultant, and service provider expenses against contract milestones.

  • Own the monthly and quarterly closing of the Financial Statements according to the global group timeline. Review the local entity's Trial Balance and provide analytical feedback to the global finance team.

  • Begin leading cross-functional coordination, serving as the bridge between technical project staff and the external regional accountant.

Within one year, you will:

  • Continuous improvement of internal financial tools, reporting templates, and tracking procedures to streamline the 50/50 split workflow.

  • Design and implement structured financial training sessions for non-finance project staff to tighten the synergy between technical implementation and financial compliance.

  • Scale your impact by supporting the financial statement and trial balance reviews, and supporting the local and regional financial audit.

Important that you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, project finance, or donor-funded programme management.

  • Experience working within an international organisation, NGO, donor-funded environment, consulting organisation, B-Corp, or similar.

  • Strong experience managing project budgets, financial reporting, and funder compliance requirements.

  • Excellent financial analysis skills and advanced Excel capabilities, including pivot tables and complex financial reporting.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.

  • Good interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across international teams.

  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.

Would also be great, but not necessary, if you:

  • Have experience supporting regenerative agriculture, sustainability, climate, environmental, or development programmes.

  • Have experience working with international funders, grants, or donor-funded projects.

  • Have experience working across multiple countries and legal entities.

  • Have knowledge of ERP and financial management systems.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
