About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Engineer to own the technical direction of a product domain, drive feature discovery, and ensure delivery of scalable, high-quality solutions. You will lead architecture decisions, improve engineering practices, mentor engineers, manage technical risks, and collaborate with Product and Design teams to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
This role focuses on building strong engineering foundations, improving delivery processes, and shaping the technical roadmap through the next 12–18 months.

Responsibilities
- Own the Feature Discovery phase for new work within your domain.
- Produce high-quality Discovery outputs, including specifications, technical assessments, and risk registers that development teams can execute against without follow-up.
- Architect scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems that provide a strong foundation for future development.
- Drive technical decision-making and maintain the technical health of your domain.
- Identify technical debt and create prioritised plans for continuous improvement.
- Proactively manage risks and dependencies across features and initiatives.
- Translate technical trade-offs and recommendations for Product, Design, and other non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure teams consistently have well-scoped, well-estimated, development-ready work.
- Own technical delivery and Discovery activities within a defined domain.
- Mentor Junior and Mid-level Engineers, supporting their growth through structured guidance and feedback.
- Participate in hiring activities and evaluate engineering talent against established standards.
- Set and maintain standards for AI tool usage within Discovery and development workflows.
- Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- End-to-end ownership of technical Discovery processes, including specifications, technical assessments, and risk registers.
- Strong architectural and system design skills, with the ability to build scalable, reliable, and maintainable solutions.
- Ability to identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks, dependencies, and technical debt.
- Experience owning technical outcomes and maintaining the technical health of a product domain.
- Ability to translate technical decisions and trade-offs for Product, Design, and other non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring Junior and Mid-level Engineers and supporting their professional growth.
- Experience participating in hiring and evaluating engineering talent.
- Strong technical communication, planning, prioritisation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to establish and promote effective AI-assisted Discovery and development practices.
Nice to Have
- Experience running or contributing to cross-functional technical planning sessions.
- Familiarity with both frontend and backend systems within a product environment.
- Experience evaluating AI-powered product features from both technical and commercial perspectives.
