The Moment

Advanced AI could reshape the foundations of economies: which jobs remain valuable, how labour markets adjust, which institutions come under strain, and how governments, philanthropies and businesses should respond.

The AI-and-jobs conversation has moved into the mainstream. Leaders across governments, international organizations, philanthropies and businesses are asking how transformative AI could affect them — and what they should do now.

Scenarios are the natural response to this uncertainty. They help leaders reason through multiple plausible futures, stress-test assumptions, and identify strategic choices.

Windfall Trust’s Scenarios Program is growing quickly. We are looking for one to two senior engagement leaders to help us meet this demand and build a high-quality advisory capability around our scenarios work.

About Windfall Trust

Windfall Trust is a global policy accelerator preparing society for the economic disruption of transformative AI.

Our mission is to ensure that the economic benefits of advanced AI are broadly shared, rather than captured by a few. We do this by raising awareness, building coalitions, and strengthening the evidence base for policy action.

Our Scenarios Program convenes economists, AI researchers, policymakers and civil society leaders to explore plausible economic futures and identify the policy responses each future demands. The workshops are complemented by the Policy Atlas, Windfall’s evolving map of policy options for governments preparing for AI’s economic consequences.

The Role

As Senior Engagement Manager, Scenarios Advisory, you will lead customized scenarios engagements with senior partners across government, philanthropy, international organizations and business.

You will turn ambiguous, high-stakes questions into structured engagements: scoping the problem, designing the process, managing the client relationship, facilitating senior rooms, and producing clear, decision-relevant outputs.

This is not a conventional consulting-pyramid role. We are looking for experienced project leaders who can run engagements end-to-end, supported by Windfall leadership and a shared delivery platform: research, communications, event production, operations, and a network of external experts.

Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead customized scenarios engagements from scoping through delivery and follow-up.

  • Work with senior partners to clarify their strategic questions and define what success looks like.

  • Design scenario processes for different institutional contexts, including governments, cities, philanthropic foundations, international organizations and businesses.

  • Facilitate senior-level workshops and working sessions.

  • Translate complex material on AI capabilities, labour markets, economics, institutions and policy into clear, usable frameworks.

  • Produce high-quality written outputs, including briefing materials, workshop decks, synthesis notes, strategic memos and partner updates.

  • Manage client and partner relationships with judgement, responsiveness and credibility.

  • Coordinate across Windfall leadership, researchers, facilitators, communications, operations, event producers and external experts.

  • Help develop Windfall’s scenarios methodology, templates and delivery infrastructure.

About You

You combine consulting discipline with intellectual seriousness and mission orientation.

You are good at structuring ambiguity. You can take a broad question — “how should we prepare for AI’s labour-market effects?” — and turn it into a clear engagement plan with useful outputs and next steps.

You have a strong client presence. You can manage senior stakeholders and earn trust in rooms that include policymakers, economists, AI experts, philanthropists, executives and civil society leaders.

You are not expected to be the world’s leading expert on AI economics, labour markets or scenario planning. But you do need to engage seriously with the substance, learn quickly, ask sharp questions, and produce work that is intellectually credible.

You are comfortable with both strategy and execution: shaping a major advisory engagement, designing a workshop agenda, rewriting a synthesis memo, preparing a senior client conversation, and making sure the team delivers on time.

Experience

Strong candidates will bring most of the following:

  • 5+ years in strategy consulting or a related field.

  • Experience at Project Leader/Engagement Manager level, or above.

  • Track record leading complex client or partner engagements end-to-end.

  • Excellent problem-structuring, writing, synthesis and presentation skills.

  • Experience producing client-ready materials such as strategy decks, briefing notes, memos, reports or executive presentations.

  • Strong facilitation skills, especially with senior or expert audiences.

  • Credibility across at least some of the following domains: AI, economics, labour markets, public policy, philanthropy, corporate strategy, scenario planning or institutional strategy.

  • Comfort working in a fast-moving, remote, international team.

  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Process

We run a structured hiring process designed to be thorough but respectful of your time.

  1. Application review. We review applications on a rolling basis, but will prioritize applications submitted before June 12th.

  2. Screening interview (20 minutes)

  3. Live exercise interview (approximately 45 minutes). You'll receive a prompt 48 hours in advance. This is not a take-home exercise; it's simply a scenario we'd like you to think through ahead of time and come prepared to discuss.

  4. Final interview (approximately 45 minutes)

  5. Reference Check

The starting date will be determined together with the successful applicant.

Not sure if you’re qualified? Apply anyway.

We actively encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
