Project Overview

In this role, you will be a key player in our data operations, supporting a high-impact project focused on building, optimizing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and database architectures. You will join a collaborative, fast-paced team dedicated to ensuring data quality, performance, and seamless integration across both relational and document-based systems. The project involves designing complex schemas, optimizing queries, and deploying automated pipelines to support advanced data science and engineering efforts. As a critical member of the team, you will drive production support, implement agile continuous delivery methodologies, and deliver highly reliable, scalable data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Database & Schema Design: Design, model, and maintain complex data structures across relational (MS SQL Server) and document-based (MongoDB) systems, resolving data quality issues as needed.
• Performance & Optimization: Write complex queries, develop stored procedures, and perform deep indexing and query performance tuning to ensure high-speed data retrieval and system reliability.
• Pipeline & Deployment Management: Execute automated pipeline deployments and migrate schemas into production environments, applying agile methods and continuous delivery concepts.
• API & Backend Support: Build and maintain secure, high-performing data pipelines and APIs, leveraging your experience with REST, JSON, and strict security and testing standards.
• Quality Assurance & Strategy: Drive test strategies and test automation, maintaining a strong focus on data quality, problem-solving, and simplicity in software design.
• Production Delivery: Ship, maintain, and troubleshoot production software products in a fast-moving environment where attention to detail and quality are highly prized.

Must-Have Skills

• Education & Experience: BS in Computer Science and a minimum of 5+ years of experience delivering production solutions, including a minimum of 5+ years working in Data Science or Data Engineering.
• Relational Databases Mastery: Strong production experience with MS SQL Server, including schema design, complex query writing, stored procedure development, indexing, and query performance tuning.
• NoSQL Expertise: Hands-on MongoDB experience, including document modeling and successfully integrating NoSQL systems with relational databases.
• Data Modeling & Quality: Proven comfort and skill in modeling data across diverse systems, analyzing schemas, and actively resolving data quality issues.
• Version Control & CI/CD: Experience maintaining projects using distributed version control systems (Git/GitHub) and hands-on experience with automated pipeline deployment.
• API & Security Fundamentals: Deep passion and experience with database modeling, pipelines, and APIs (including security, testing, performance, JSON, and REST).
• Mindset & Delivery: Passionate about shipping and maintaining production software products. You thrive in an environment where attention to detail, problem-solving, simplicity, quality, and moving quickly are highly prized.
• Fluent English: Strong verbal and written communication skills for daily technical collaboration and documentation.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Cloud Data Platforms: Experience with the Azure data stack, specifically including Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric.
• Scripting & Automation: Working proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and data pipeline support.
• Advanced Testing Strategy: Strong experience and formed opinions around data quality frameworks, test strategy, and test automation.

Time Zone & Collaboration

This role is 100% remote from LATAM and requires consistent overlap with teams in Central Time (CT). Flexibility is expected to accommodate key ceremonies, stand-ups, and collaborative sessions within standard Austin business hours.
