Position Overview
PhoenixTeam is seeking a Scrum Master to support cross-functional delivery teams responsible for federal government contracting initiatives focused on IT modernization and mortgage technology. This role facilitates Agile execution, improves team effectiveness, and strengthens collaboration across business and technical stakeholders so teams can deliver secure, high-quality solutions in complex, regulated environments.
This position is 100% remote. Company computer equipment is provided. A background check is required as a condition of employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.
- Coach Scrum Team members and stakeholders on Agile values, Scrum practices, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Product Owners to improve backlog readiness, story clarity, acceptance criteria quality, and prioritization discipline.
- Identify, remove, or escalate impediments that affect sprint goals, release timelines, team productivity, or solution quality.
- Track delivery health through Agile metrics such as velocity, burndown, cycle time, sprint goal achievement, and team capacity.
- Support distributed teams using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar workflow platforms.
- Coordinate dependencies, risks, blockers, and stakeholder expectations across business and technical workstreams.
- Promote continuous improvement and disciplined delivery aligned with federal contracting expectations.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience serving as a Scrum Master, Agile delivery lead, or comparable role supporting software or platform teams.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating Agile ceremonies and coaching cross-functional teams in Scrum practices.
- Experience supporting IT modernization, application delivery, systems integration, digital transformation, or technology implementation initiatives.
- Working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or equivalent workflow management platforms.
- Strong facilitation, communication, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to organize work, track risks, and maintain momentum across remote teams and multiple stakeholders.
- Experience operating in structured environments that require documentation, accountability, and coordination consistent with federal contracting expectations.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM I), SAFe Scrum Master, or similar Agile certification.
- Experience supporting federal government contracts, public-sector delivery teams, or other regulated client environments.
- Familiarity with mortgage technology, lending, servicing, document workflows, or compliance-sensitive business processes.
- Exposure to DevSecOps, release planning, quality engineering, or scaled Agile delivery environments.
