RFP & Proposal Writer

Position Overview

Speer Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented RFP & Proposal Writer to support our growing team. This is a high-impact, fully remote role open to candidates across Canada, with in-office options available for those in or near Toronto to join team meetings and collaborative sessions. It is ideal for someone with proven success in grant applications and RFP submissions who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

You'll work closely with leadership, sales, and marketing teams to identify funding opportunities, lead proposal development, and write compelling submissions that showcase Speer's innovation and capabilities. This role also includes consulting and advising the executive team on strategic approaches to winning RFPs, as well as training other team members on the proposal process.

Key Responsibilities

• Opportunity Identification: Research and identify grant, RFP, and funding opportunities aligned with Speer's focus areas and strategic goals.
• End-to-End Proposal Management: Lead the full RFP response process, including coordinating timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder input across teams.
• Proposal Writing & Editing: Write, edit, and format compelling proposals, applications, and supporting documents. Tailor each submission to highlight Speer's strengths, differentiators, and unique capabilities.
• Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure all submissions meet technical, content, and formatting requirements while maintaining a high standard of quality across concurrent proposals.
• Content & Knowledge Management: Maintain a repository of commonly used documents, templates, and case studies for reuse across proposals. Stay updated on industry trends, funding programs, and best practices in grant writing and procurement.
• Project Coordination: Create internal timelines and checklists to meet critical deadlines. Organize meetings, gather required information, and ensure clarity on submission requirements.
• Reporting & Tracking: Track and report on the status of submissions and outcomes to inform future strategy.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of writing winning grants, RFPs, or other funding proposals.
• Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft clear, persuasive, and professional content.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines and requirements without missing a beat.
• Proactive and self-directed, with the ability to take ownership of work and anticipate needs before they arise.
• Strategic thinker who can quickly grasp new concepts and tailor writing to different audiences and opportunities.
• Collaborative partner who works well with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather insights and strengthen proposals.
• Comfortable working in a startup environment where priorities shift quickly and innovation is constant.
• Solid project management skills with experience coordinating cross-functional deliverables.

Nice to Haves

• Knowledge of Canadian and international funding programs relevant to health tech, AI, or deep tech.
• Familiarity with data-driven proposal strategies, compliance frameworks, or procurement regulations.
• Experience with Figma.
• Fluency in French is an asset.

Compensation

• Full-time role, Monday to Friday schedule.
• Fully remote, open to candidates across Canada. In-office options available for those in or near Toronto.
• Compensation ranges from $55,000 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience and engagement type.
