The coordinator manages operational administration for research development, including grant funding opportunities, internal funding programs, and campus-wide engagement. They also provide administrative support to research committees, facilitate research-related communications, and assist with event planning and database inquiries.
With oversight and direction from the OHSU Office of Research and Innovation and the Chief Research Officer (CRO), the Research Development & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for operational administration of research development and campus-wide engagement at OHSU. This position requires a thorough and detailed knowledge of grant funding opportunities and associated processes, project management experience, strong communication skills, and a high degree of initiative, independent judgment, problem solving, and collaborative skills.
Through collaboration with internal and external customers, including a high level of communication with OHSU faculty and the OHSU Foundation, the Research Development & Engagement Coordinator will provide excellent customer service, while continually assessing, supporting and planning for a wide range of programmatic functions including the limited submission funding opportunity process, administration of the Medical Research Foundation and other internal/foundation grant programs, preparation/maintenance of websites and databases, use of business communications functions, project development, and regular workflow analysis and improvement. In addition, the Research Development and Engagement Coordinator will assist with research event planning, assist with database inquiries related to the scientific mission, and help to facilitate research-related communications.

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Administration, or a field directly related to the position.
At least two years supervisory or management experience.
Minimum five years of experience with responsibility for program or project monitoring and coordination. The experience must have included program evaluation responsibility.
Skills and Abilities
Experience interpreting and implementing policies.
Extensive and sophisticated experience with Windows, Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), and various web browsers.
Experience with HTML style sheets, scripting, and web server structure.
Proven experience on web-based projects.
Ability to organize, analyze, interpret, and present complex information and data accurately to support decision-making, reporting, compliance activities, and project coordination.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, think critically, identify complex problems, evaluate options, and recommend practical and effective solutions.
Exceptional organizational and project management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects, track deliverables, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while meeting competing deadlines.
Ability to successfully manage multiple grant development and submission activities simultaneously, including overlapping funding opportunities, compressed timelines, and coordination among investigators, administrators, and external stakeholders.
Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, integrity, and sound judgment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare, edit, and review professional correspondence, reports, proposals, presentations, and other materials with a high degree of accuracy.
Expert level experience with SQL and databases, web software, and API.
Experience with creating visually compelling reports.
Working knowledge of research funding and proposal development.
Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
100% telework; may be required to work on campus for special projects or presentations.
