Reporter, Defense (Space)

The big picture: Axios is a media company dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We are hiring a reporter to be our subject matter expert on the Future of Defense in space.

Why it matters: This reporter will enhance our coverage of defense by becoming the authority on the big topics and trends that are profoundly shaping militaries, geopolitics, and warfare above the globe now and in the future. These topics include the rising importance of launch capacity, protecting and attacking satellite infrastructure and cutting-edge technologies pushing warfare and national security into orbit.

Go deeper: In this role, you will make an impact to Axios through the following responsibilities:

• Anchor a weekly newsletter exploring the biggest trends and news driving the future of defense in space.
• Help Axios readers across our newsletters make sense of the evolution of militaries and war by identifying and explaining the topics that really matter.
• Become our public authority on stage and elsewhere to help illuminate these important issues.

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $100,000 - $150,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation and benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
