Oversees the execution of perimeter operations, specifically meat and produce, to increase sales and profitability across corporate stores. Collaborates with regional directors and district managers to implement merchandising standards, training, and shrink reduction programs.
Purpose
This position supports the successful execution of perimeter operation (meat, produce and perimeter merchandising) in Corporate stores. The Job’s primary focus is to work with District Managers and Regional Directors to improve execution and increase sales. The incumbent will work directly with the retail operations team to improve meat and produce sales and profitability. This position collaborates with procurement / merchandising to develop and sell perimeter, meat and produce, with best-in-class standards. This position will also coordinate regional variations in perimeter merchandising / promotion and store scripting with the field. Incumbents ensure appropriate execution by training and counseling District Managers and store associates on Meat, Produce and Perimeter Merchandising operations. This role also assists in the implementation of programs, training, and corrective action to reduce shrink in corporate stores.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate to establish and coordinate execution of the perimeter as well as regional variations to promotions and selling efforts for Meat, Produce and Perimeter Merchandising in Corporate stores.
- Plan, coordinate and participate in training efforts in their Business Unit for Corporate stores; take the lead role ensuring District Managers are knowledgeable in Merchandising the perimeter and in perishable operations.
- Lead efforts to work with retail operations, coordinating efforts with District Managers and Retail Business Unit Directors, to improve sales and profitability purchase concentration.
- Ensure Food Safety and sanitation standards are maintained consistently in all stores and that Food Safety issues are immediately addressed with corporate retail operations. Track and record instances of concern and resolution.
- Manage and direct Perishable Counselors to successfully support meat cutting and produce operations.
- Train, develop, assist, and counsel Perishable staff in stores.
- All other duties as assigned.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent, extensive retail experience including hands-on experience in cutting Fresh Meat, Merchandising Fresh Meat and Meat Dept. operations.
- Experience managing staff is preferred

- Knowledge of the customer, their needs and wants, and unique aspects of the market

- Demonstrated sense of urgency with the ability to drive and sustain positive change in the organization
Physical Requirements
- Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift and transport various objects weighing 20-50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift; at times, product weight could be 50-80 pounds
- Must have the ability to stand, walk and / or move about for extended periods of time
- Requires the ability to push, pull, grasp, twist and use sawing motions for extended periods of time
- Regularly works in freezers, coolers, refrigerators, inside and outside of the store in all weather conditions and inside delivery trucks
