The State of Minnesota is seeking a senior-level QA Automation Engineer/Developer to provide technical leadership for enterprise test automation initiatives supporting the Minnesota Eligibility Technology System (METS) and SMRT DevOps teams.
This role will lead automation architecture, framework modernization, CI/CD integration, automated testing strategy, and automation best practices for mission-critical healthcare eligibility systems. The selected candidate will be responsible for improving, scaling, and maintaining enterprise automation frameworks while mentoring team members and supporting ongoing modernization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, modernize, and maintain enterprise automation frameworks.
Establish automation architecture standards, coding standards, and automation best practices.
Lead framework modernization efforts to improve scalability, maintainability, and performance.
Develop and maintain:
UI Automation Suites
API Automation Suites
Regression Test Suites
System Integration Test Automation
Database Validation Automation
Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes.
Collaborate with developers, business analysts, DevOps engineers, and QA teams.
Develop reusable automation components and testing utilities.
Perform SQL validation and database testing.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and technical design sessions.
Conduct automation code reviews and mentor QA automation engineers.
Evaluate and recommend new automation technologies and tools.
Support continuous testing and software quality initiatives.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience designing, developing, and executing automated testing solutions.
5+ years of experience with:
Java
Selenium
Test Automation Framework Development
5+ years designing reusable automation frameworks using object-oriented design principles.
3+ years integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Jenkins or similar automation orchestration tools.
5+ years of SQL development and database validation experience.
