About the role
We're looking for a QA Engineer who is excited to make a meaningful impact from day one. This is a hands-on Quality Assurance Engineer role focused primarily on manual testing, with a clear path toward increasing automation as our testing strategy evolves.
You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, and Design to ensure every release meets our quality standards. Beyond executing test cases, you'll contribute to test planning, identify risks early, validate user experiences across web and mobile platforms, and help shape our long-term automation strategy.
We're looking for someone who understands not only how to automate tests, but why, when, and what should be automated. Sound methodology, architecture, and judgment are more important than simply writing large numbers of automation scripts.
Exciting Opportunities in this Role
- Help shape the quality of an AI-powered product used by veterinary professionals around the world.
- Build a strong foundation in modern QA practices with mentorship and opportunities for career growth.
- Contribute to the evolution of our automation strategy while gaining hands-on experience with tools like Playwright.
- Work with modern development workflows, including GitHub Actions, AI-assisted testing, and Agile delivery.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers throughout the development lifecycle.
- Test across both web and mobile applications while gaining exposure to end-to-end product quality.
- Influence release quality by proactively identifying risks, improving testing processes, and raising the overall quality bar.
Qualifications
We're more interested in finding the right person than checking every box.
- 4+ years of professional experience in Quality Assurance or Software Testing.
- Experience testing both web and mobile applications.
Test Design & Methodology
- Practical command of ISTQB-style test design techniques: equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis, decision tables, and state transition.
- Ability to design structured, executable test cases (preconditions, steps, expected results).
- Solid understanding of testing types (static, smoke, regression, exploratory, functional) and the defect lifecycle.
- Understanding of agile development workflows and where QA adds value in each phase.
Automation
- Some hands-on automation experience on web (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or similar) enough to read, run, and extend an existing suite.
- Strong grasp of automation methodology: what to automate and when, maintainable architecture (Page Object Model, data-driven/BDD approaches), stable selectors, and wait strategies.
- Understands how automation strategy applies to both web and mobile applications (mobile frameworks such as Appium, Patrol, or Maestro are a plus).
- We value judgment about how to automate well over volume of scripts written.
Tools & Technical Skills
- Test case management tools: Testiny, TestRail, or similar.
- Issue trackers: Linear, Jira, or similar.
- Ability to read Figma designs and validate UI against them.
- Git/GitHub familiarity and awareness of CI/CD pipelines (we run GitHub Actions).
- Python basics at minimum: comfortable reading and running Playwright test scripts.
- End-to-end web testing mindset: frontend behavior, backend/API effects, and data states across user roles and subscription plans.
- Mobile testing experience.
Nice to Have
- ISTQB Certification.
- SQL and database knowledge.
- Hands-on mobile automation experience.
- Professional written and spoken Spanish.
About You
You're someone who takes a thoughtful, engineering-driven approach to quality. You enjoy digging into complex problems, asking the right questions early, and ensuring products are reliable before they reach customers.
You thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environments and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teammates. Rather than simply finding bugs, you help improve processes, reduce risk, and contribute to better product decisions.
You'll be successful in this role if you:
- Think critically and use AI tools effectively while validating their output.
- Write detailed, evidence-based bug reports with clear reproduction steps and appropriate severity.
- Proactively identify unclear requirements and seek clarification before development progresses.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, and timelines to keep releases moving smoothly.
- Enjoy continuous learning and are excited to grow your automation skills alongside experienced engineers.
- Take pride in delivering high-quality software that makes a real impact for veterinary professionals.
