The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Director, Precision Medicine Platform & Strategic Partnerships, Clinical Research, supporting our National Center office located in Dallas, TX. This role can be home-based.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, grant-funded opportunity. Current funding will expire 08/30/2027 with the possibility of extension.
The Director, Precision Medicine Platform & Strategic Partnerships will lead the strategic growth, operational execution, and external commercialization of the American Heart Association’s precision medicine platform and data licensing expansion efforts. This role is responsible for overseeing enterprise data integration initiatives, including Bedrock and other interoperable data environments, while developing innovative research, data licensing, and industry partnership opportunities that leverage the American Heart Association’s unique assets.
This position will serve as a cross-functional leader across Clinical Research, Data Science, QORA, Corporate Relations, Technology, and Mission Advancement to translate the American Heart Association’s registry network, real-world data assets, biospecimen strategies, and scientific leadership into scalable precision medicine solutions for industry, academic, and healthcare partners. The Director will also oversee a portfolio of industry-sponsored projects focused on cardiovascular and brain health innovation.
The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Registry Research & Analytics.

Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development and execution of the American Heart Association Precision Medicine Platform.
- Oversee enterprise data integration initiatives, including Bedrock and other linked data environments that support research and commercial use cases.
- Develop and expand data licensing opportunities with life sciences, digital health, diagnostics, MedTech, and other external partners.
- Build and manage a portfolio of industry-sponsored clinical research, observational studies, and evidence generation projects.
- Identify new market opportunities for the American Heart Association’s data assets in genomics, cardiometabolic disease, stroke, heart failure, arrhythmia, and emerging therapeutic areas.
- Collaborate with Corporate Relations and Mission Advancement to structure strategic partnerships and revenue-generating opportunities.
- Serve as senior project lead for complex external initiatives, ensuring timely execution, budget management, sponsor satisfaction, and scientific quality.
- Translate our registry, claims, EHR, and linked data capabilities into precision medicine solutions that support trial acceleration, site feasibility, patient identification, and real-world evidence.
- Partner with Data Science and Technology teams to define product roadmaps, data governance standards, and scalable operating models.
- Develop executive presentations, business cases, proposals, pricing models, and commercialization strategies.
- Engage scientific volunteers, investigators, and advisory groups to shape new research programs and platform priorities.
- Monitor industry trends in genomics, AI, biomarkers, decentralized trials, and precision therapeutics to inform the American Heart Association’s growth strategy.
- Perform other duties as requested and special projects at the request of executive leadership.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree - MPH, MBA, or similar field.
- 8 years of relevant experience in healthcare, life sciences, data commercialization, research strategy, or clinical research operations.
- Experience leading cross-functional strategic initiatives with executive visibility.
- Experience in precision medicine, genomics, real-world evidence, digital health, or advanced analytics strongly preferred.
- Experience developing external partnerships and negotiating complex research or data use agreements.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data assets including registries, claims, EHR, imaging, or genomic datasets.
- Experience managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
- Strong verbal, written, and executive presentation skills.
- Strong business acumen with ability to connect scientific opportunities to commercial strategy.
- Superior attention to detail; outstanding organization and prioritization skills.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Ability to travel up to 20% annually.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, MedTech, diagnostics, or digital health industries.
- Experience building data products, licensing models, or SaaS-enabled healthcare solutions.
- Experience with cardiovascular or neuroscience therapeutic areas.
- Experience working with nonprofit, academic, or membership-based organizations.
- Familiarity with CMS, Epic Cosmos, OMOP, FHIR, or cloud-based research environments.
Compensation & Benefits
The expected pay range will be $120,000 to $150,000. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply.
