About Current AI

Current Al
is a first-of-its-kind global public-private partnership that brings together governments, foundations, and the private sector to build public interest AI at scale. Launched at the AI Action Summit in Paris in 2025, the organisation has already raised hundreds of millions through partnerships with the French government, AI Collaborative, and other leading governments, philanthropic, and industry partners.

If AI is the transformative revolution we perceive it to be, it needs to serve the public interest today and tomorrow. At Current AI, our goal is to help build a collaborative, collective, and global vision for AI, not one governed by a specific country or a company.

Today, there are builders and researchers around the world developing public interest AI building blocks (datasets, models, compute, audits and applications), but efforts are not always co-ordinated or additive. To have a genuine shot at being an alternative, we must harness the full breadth of work happening across open source and public interest AI. That means leveraging government influence and resources, philanthropic funding, and private sector expertise and scale towards building the alternative.

Role Overview

AI Potluck is Current AI's effort to build an open-source, public-interest AI stack together with the ecosystem. Organisations contribute models, datasets, evaluations, tools, compute and research. Those contributions become shared building blocks that others can use, improve and adapt. There are currently two products in the AI Potluck portfolio: The Gap Map, a data visualization tool that shows what exists across open-source AI and, critically, what is still missing. Alpha is a working demo of our vision for what a viable public option can be. Alpha is where contributions from partners and the public AI ecosystem plug in and reach real users.

As Product Manager: Partnerships, you will hold the contributor roadmap for AI Potluck. You will scope potential partner contributions and write PRDs, then work cross-functionally with our Build team to ship. Your success is measured by your ability to proactively shape technical contribution pathways for the Potluck, successfully onboard new partners and launch new product integrations within the AI Potluck, and to drive broader ecosystem adoption beyond our direct intervention.

Working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Programmes and Movement teams, you will structure and execute strategic product partnerships that enrich our stack, drive ecosystem adoption, and ensure external contributions align with our open-source vision.

What you’ll do

The partnership opportunity pipeline is led by the Movement team, bringing plenty of inbound partners. Your role is to turn roadmap needs and inbound contribution ideas into product specifications and work cross-functionally to see them go live.

Product Partnership Pipeline Management

  • Own the roadmap of contributions to AI Potluck and keep it in step with Build's product roadmap and release cycles, establishing and tracking against success metrics.
  • Assess strategic fit, technical interoperability, and alignment with open-source and mission goals of potential partners.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Finance teams to structure integration models and cost/value frameworks.

Partner Relationship Management & Ecosystem Building

  • Cultivate long-term relationships with product partners, acting as the primary point of contact for ongoing technical integrations.
  • Drive partner adoption of Alpha, encouraging partners to join the Potluck as contributors back to the open-source stack.
  • Design repeatable contribution pathways so partners are able to contribute without bespoke support.

Cross-Functional Alignment & Product Strategy

  • Work closely with Engineering and Product turn roadmap gaps into scoped asks for open calls and bounties, and turning inbound offers into integrations and PRDs..
  • Ensure third-party partner strategies directly align with Current AI’s overarching product roadmap and release timelines.

Product Management

  • Bring contributor and user insight into the product vision and roadmap, , in close collaboration with the Head of Product.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, and other teams to guide each contribution from conception through launch and iteration.

What we’re looking for

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management or Product Partnerships roles involving open source and AI systems.
  • Experience in open-source ecosystems, including bringing external contributions into a shipped product.
  • Proven track record of taking external contributions from first conversation to live in production.
  • Experience writing PRDs and technical specs that engineering teams, in-house or external, can build from.
  • Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Research, Programmes, and Leadership teams to balance risk, feasibility, and product impact.
  • Fluent English with clear written and verbal communication skills tailored to both technical teams and external partner executives.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in research-product organizations, or public-interest technology initiatives.
  • Background in structuring complex integration models for AI/ML tools, compute providers, or datasets.
  • Experience designing the technical requirements for open calls, bounties or challenges.
  • French proficiency is a plus.

  6. Work effectively across cultures, time zones, and disciplines
  7. Believe AI can serve the public interest - and are willing to do the practical, hands-on work to make that true.
