Product Design Engineer
QTech – Spray Pump & Small Machinery Innovation
Location: Remote | Employment Type: Full-time/Part Time | Salary:£250-£500 Per Month | Reports to: General Manager
About QTech
QTech designs and manufactures precision spray pump machines and small machinery. We are looking for a Product Design Engineer to drive the next generation of QTech machines – from first concept sketch through to production-ready, patent-protected products.
The Role
You will own the design and engineering of new QTech machines and improvements to our existing range. This is a hands-on role combining creative product design with rigorous mechanical engineering. You will take products from concept and CAD through prototyping, testing, and manufacture, while ensuring our designs are both genuinely innovative and clear of existing patents.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer new products and machine improvements for the QTech range, from concept through to production.
- Produce detailed CAD models, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Develop industry-breaking design concepts that set QTech machines apart from competitors.
- Build, test, and iterate prototypes; validate performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Conduct patent and freedom-to-operate research; design around existing patents and support new patent applications for QTech innovations.
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners on tooling, materials, and production processes.
- Collaborate with sales and management to translate customer and market needs into product requirements.
- Maintain design records, revision control, and compliance documentation.
Required Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in product design and mechanical engineering, with shipped products to show for it.
- Hands-on experience with small spray pumps, dosing/atomising systems, or comparable small machinery.
- Strong CAD skills (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar) including 3D modelling and 2D technical drawings.
- A track record of original, innovative design work – not just incremental updates.
- Experience working with patents: freedom-to-operate searches, designing around existing IP, and contributing to patent filings.
- Solid understanding of materials, tolerances, DFM/DFA, and prototyping methods (including 3D printing and machining).
- Degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience with fluid dynamics, atomisation, or precision dispensing.
- Familiarity with simulation/FEA tools and design validation testing.
- Named inventor on granted patents or published applications.
- Experience taking a product through regulatory or safety certification.
