The Principal Enterprise AI and Transformation Architect is a hands-on senior individual contributor responsible for discovering transformation opportunities, designing end-to-end solutions, and directly building and implementing enterprise AI, automation, integration, and business system capabilities.

This role combines strategic thinking with practical delivery and is equally comfortable facilitating executive discussions, redesigning business processes, configuring enterprise platforms, building AI agents and workflows, integrating systems, and moving solutions from concept through production.

The majority of the role is focused on hands-on design, configuration, development, implementation, testing, and optimization, with the remaining time focused on strategy, architecture, stakeholder engagement, and mentoring.

Department: Operations

Job Responsibilities:

  • Business Transformation and Solution Delivery
    • Partner directly with Intelligent Process Automation & AI Enablement Manager and stakeholders to translate prioritized transformation opportunities and future-state process designs into technical solution architectures, prototypes, and implementation plans
    • Lead technical discovery and feasibility assessment for complex transformation initiatives, identifying solution options, dependencies, constraints, risks, and integration requirements
    • Translate business and process requirements into technical designs, working prototypes, implementation plans, and production solutions
    • Own the technical delivery of selected initiatives through architecture, prototyping, build, testing, deployment, and stabilization
  • Hands-on AI and Automation Development
    • Design, configure, build, test, and deploy enterprise AI workflows, copilots, intelligent agents, and automation solutions using approved platforms
    • Engineer and implement agent instructions, prompts, tools, knowledge connections, APIs, guardrails, escalation paths, evaluation and monitoring mechanisms
    • Build reusable workflows, prompt libraries, agent patterns, connectors, templates, and components that accelerate future delivery
    • Troubleshoot, tune, optimize, and support deployed solutions to improve reliability, usability, performance, and business value
  • Enterprise Systems & Integration Delivery
    • Design and implement enterprise-system configurations, workflows, business rules, and data structures where required to deliver cross-functional transformation and AI solutions
    • Design and build API-based and platform-based integrations between ERP, CRM, financial, project management, collaboration, operational, data, automation, and AI systems
    • Solve complex technical problems involving authentication, APIs, data flows, integration logic, exception handling, automation, and AI
    • Partner with the Lead Business Systems Architect to ensure solutions align with enterprise system architecture, configuration standards, integration patterns, security requirements, and change controls
    • Transition ongoing ownership of enterprise-system configurations and integrations to the appropriate system owner following implementation and stabilization
  • Solution Architecture and Technical Leadership
    • Design end-to-end solutions spanning business processes, enterprise systems, data, integrations, automation platforms, and AI services
    • Develop and recommend solution architecture and platform decisions for complex transformation initiatives, balancing speed, scalability, security, compliance, maintainability, user experience, and total cost of ownership. Create lightweight reference patterns, design artifacts, and implementation standards based on solutions proven through hands-on delivery
    • Serve as the technical lead and escalation point for complex initiatives while remaining directly involved in prototyping and implementation
  • Prototyping, Experimentation, and Productizing
    • Rapidly build proofs of concept and working prototypes to test feasibility, demonstrate value, and reduce delivery risk
    • Convert successful prototypes into secure, supportable, production-ready solutions with appropriate testing, documentation, controls, and ownership
    • Evaluate emerging AI, automation, integration, and enterprise platform capabilities through practical experimentation rather than theoretical assessment alone
    • Recommend whether to build, buy, configure, integrate, or retire capabilities based on demonstrated business and technical fit
  • Governance, Quality, and Responsible AI
    • Implement responsible AI, security, privacy, data-use, human-oversight, documentation, testing, release, and support requirements within delivered solutions
    • Build evaluation and quality-assurance approaches for AI outputs, agent behavior, workflow reliability, and exception handling
    • Partner with Legal, Information Security, IT, Quality, and business stakeholders to ensure solutions meet applicable regulatory and enterprise requirements
    • Create practical standards and reusable controls that enable teams to move quickly without sacrificing governance or compliance
  • Technical Enablement & Scaling
    • Partner with the Manager, Intelligent Process Automation & AI Enablement to prepare users, process owners, and support teams for new ways of working
    • Create technical documentation and knowledge-transfer plans for delivered solutions
    • Scale successful solutions across functions by developing and adapting reusable technical patterns, components, integrations, and implementation playbooks
  • Executive Partnership and Team Enablement
    • Communicate solution options, tradeoffs, progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to executive, business, and technical audiences
    • Act as a high-trust thought partner to the Executive Director, helping shape the transformation and AI portfolio while taking direct ownership of priority work
    • Mentor managers, architects, analysts, and solution teams through pairing, design sessions, code or configuration reviews, and hands-on problem solving
    • Influence across functions without direct authority and create alignment among business teams, IT, vendors, and implementation partners
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience spanning business transformation, enterprise systems, solution architecture, intelligent automation, systems integration, AI enablement, or consulting roles
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience designing, configuring, building, integrating, testing, deploying, and supporting enterprise solutions
  • Hands-on experience building AI-enabled workflows, copilots, intelligent agents, retrieval-augmented solutions, or generative AI applications
  • Hands-on experience configuring and integrating enterprise business systems and low-code platforms, such as ERP, CRM, Microsoft Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Dynamics, Salesforce, Freshworks, or comparable technologies
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and troubleshooting API-based integrations, including REST APIs, authentication, data flows, integration patterns, connectors, and event-driven processes.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business challenges into technical solutions, working prototypes, and production implementations
  • Experience designing human + AI workflows, prompts, tools, guardrails, evaluation methods, exception handling, and operational support models
  • Ability to move fluidly between executive strategy, workshop facilitation, architecture, configuration, development, testing, deployment, and support
  • Portfolio or examples demonstrating personally delivered AI, automation, integration, or enterprise system solutions strongly preferred
  • Excellent executive communication, facilitation, documentation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
