Principal Backend Engineer & AI

Nexaminds is looking for a Principal Backend Engineer & AI to join our engineering team. In this role, you'll design and build scalable backend services while driving the integration of cutting-edge AI capabilities into modern cloud applications. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop AI-powered backend solutions, implement LLM integrations, and build highly reliable distributed systems that power next-generation products.

Requirements:

• 5–8 years of professional experience as a Backend Engineer or Software Engineer.

• Expert-level experience developing backend applications with Node.js.

• Strong experience designing scalable microservices and distributed backend architectures.

• Hands-on experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into backend systems.

• Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), including API integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar).

• Experience with Prompt Engineering and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.

• Experience implementing AI orchestration frameworks, vector databases, and AI-driven APIs.

• Strong experience working with Message Queues (MQ) for asynchronous and event-driven architectures.

• Experience using GitHub, Terraform, and JFrog Artifactory within CI/CD environments.

• Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native development.

• Experience writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested production code.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in Agile engineering environments.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Java backend development.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Dataflow and BigQuery.
• Experience with Azure services, particularly Event Hub.
• Experience with Python, especially for AI workflows and data processing scripts.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
• Experience optimizing AI workloads and backend application performance.

Job Duties:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js.
• Build AI-powered backend solutions leveraging LLM APIs and modern AI frameworks.
• Develop and optimize AI integrations using Prompt Engineering, RAG, and vector database technologies.
• Design event-driven architectures utilizing Message Queues for scalable distributed systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance backend services.
• Develop AI-driven APIs and backend services that integrate with modern cloud platforms.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Terraform, and JFrog Artifactory.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
• Ensure high standards for code quality, testing, security, and system reliability.
• Contribute to technical documentation, engineering best practices, and continuous platform improvement.
