Power BI Developer

About This Opportunity

CTI Staffing is partnering with a growing organization to find a Senior Power BI Developer / BI Tech Lead for their data & analytics team, based in [City, State / Remote — TBD].

This team is building out a modern BI and data platform, combining a cloud data warehouse with governed, secure Power BI reporting. This role leads that effort — owning report and semantic model development while guiding a small team of developers and analysts.

What You'll Do

• Design and build Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models for business stakeholders
  
• Implement row-level security (RLS) and governance standards across the Power BI environment
  
• Develop and tune SQL queries against a cloud data warehouse for performance at scale
  
• Design scalable data models using star/snowflake schema best practices
  
• Lead and mentor a small team of BI developers and analysts
  
• Coordinate with architects, analysts, and product owners to translate business needs into delivered reporting
  
• Establish and enforce BI development standards and best practices
  
• Support CI/CD processes for BI and data pipeline delivery
  

Requirements

What You Bring

Must-Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  
• Proven track record as a Power BI Developer with a strong portfolio of production reports and dashboards
  
• Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, and Power Query (M language)
  
• Hands-on experience with a modern cloud data warehouse, including data modeling and SQL querying
  
• Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (star schema, snowflake schema) and ability to design scalable models
  
• Experience with SQL performance tuning on large datasets
  
• Experience implementing row-level security (RLS) and access governance within Power BI
  
• Prior experience leading or mentoring a team of developers/analysts
  

Nice-to-Have:

• Java or Python scripting skills
  
• Experience with CI/CD for BI or data pipelines
  
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  
• Experience embedding reports in a portal/application environment
  
• Experience with advanced cloud data warehouse features (data sharing, streaming ingestion)

• Java / Python (a plus)
  

What Success Looks Like:

• A governed, secured Power BI reporting environment is in place within the first 3 months
  
• Key legacy reporting is migrated or supplemented with tuned, high-performing Power BI models
  
• The BI/analyst team is operating against clear delivery standards under this person's leadership
