Job Description:

Job purpose

The purpose of the Point of Contact – Urology is to provide support for the office and physicians and APPs independently and with minimal supervision. The POC also provides other diverse duties as requested or required under the general and direct supervision of the site manager.

Essential Job Functions                         

  • To create a positive and professional first impression of the practice and to show the patients a "we care" attitude.
  • Triage incoming patient calls and secure messages, assess urgency, and determine appropriate next steps under physician guidance.
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing symptoms, lab results, and medical history to identify potential complications or changes in condition.
  • Communicate test results, treatment instructions, and post-procedure guidance to patients in a clear, compassionate, and professional manner.
  • Educate patients about medications, procedures, and self-care, reinforcing physician instructions and ensuring understanding.
  • Document all patient interactions, assessments, and follow-up plans accurately in the EMR.
  • Assist with e-scribing medications, ordering labs or imaging, and other provider-directed clinical tasks within the scope of practice.
  • Schedule virtual or in-person appointments, procedures, and follow-ups across multiple providers while maintaining continuity of care.
  • Support completion of clinical paperwork, including FMLA forms, medical record requests, and insurance or appeal documentation.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for patients and staff, helping ensure timely, safe, and high-quality care.
  • Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and office staff to maintain efficient workflows and a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • 1–2 years of clinical experience (outpatient, hospital, or telehealth setting).
  • Experience with patient triage, education, and follow-up.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and telehealth platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while supporting multiple providers.

Preferred:

  • Experience in outpatient, urology, or specialty settings.
  • Familiarity with care coordination or patient navigation concepts.
  • Comfort using technology for patient education and virtual communication.

Working conditions

Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

Physical requirements

Position requires moderate physical effort, standing/walking for more than 75 percent of the day, as well as lifting objects that weight up to 10 pounds. Position may include helping to lift/arrange patients.
