Description
The Bulletin producer is responsible for the operational success of every aspect of CT Media’s flagship news commentary podcast. They execute the vision for The Bulletin in collaboration with Executive Producers (EP) and Director of CT Media (DCTM).
Functions and Responsibilities
- Own episodes from conception to publishing. This includes research, booking, recording, producing the episode, and working with the sound engineer on final edits and mixes.
- Direct and manage all talent (commentators, guests), ensuring everyone is properly briefed with overall vision for each segment and episode.
- Consistently generate timely and thoughtful segment/interview ideas in alignment with CT’s Declaration of Principles.
- Moderate recorded conversations with commentators and guests, including intermittent 1:1 interviews.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Advertising to extend reach of Bulletin content to multiple CT platforms.
- Oversee content and growth of The Bulletin substack account to further engage the show audience.
- Build bench of premier guest commentators to enhance the show’s credibility.
- Work directly with host, scripting and refining questions, prepping them for recording sessions, and directing in Riverside.
- Coach CT editors to translate their written pieces into compelling audio episodes.
- Contribute to programming strategy, helping identify potential episode ideas and experiments in format that can deepen listener loyalty and expand what the show can do.
- Lead weekly cadence of post-mortem meetings and writer’s room meetings for development of content and continual show improvement.
- Meet weekly with associate producer to review show lineups, check progress, and conduct long-term planning.
- Maintain production spreadsheet, which includes show summaries, episode text, production schedule (air dates), and booking details.
- With data analyst and production team, ensure episode metrics are captured and recorded for every episode.
- Conduct monthly team business meeting to review show metrics, team goals, marketing, advertising, and special projects
- Work with Coordinating Producer to maintain a healthy show budget.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of podcast production experience
- Experience and skill booking high profile guests
- Experience creating content for visual and written media
- Adept knowledge of the news and a biblical worldview
- Ability to juggle multiple projects on deadline and work across geographically dispersed teams
- Ability to develop and cultivate strong, relevant partnerships with key stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Able to work independently
