Platform Software Engineer
DSP Concepts | Taiwan (remote)
DSP Concepts develops Audio Weaver, a software platform for embedded audio processing. We are expanding our Taiwan engineering team to help customers and silicon partners integrate its AWE Core library across a wide range of embedded platforms.
About the role
We are looking for a hands-on Platform Software Engineer to develop the source code, Python configuration tools, examples, documentation, and release packages that make AWE Core integration reliable and repeatable. Customers and partners usually perform the integration themselves; your work will give them a well-tested, well-documented package and expert engineering support.
The primary focus is embedded Linux, including platforms where Linux is used alongside Android. Some integrations also involve real-time operating systems (RTOSs) and DSPs. You will become an expert in the integration package and help improve it throughout its lifecycle, from design and implementation to delivery and support. Effective use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or equivalent tools is required for day-to-day coding and debugging.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain portable C/C++ integration code, reference implementations, and interfaces connecting AWE Core with the target operating system, audio I/O, and platform services. Use AI agents to assist with implementation and refactoring.
- Build and maintain Python tools that simplify configuration, build preparation, and delivery of customer-ready integration packages.
- Configure embedded Linux environments; cross-compile, deploy, and debug software on development boards; and investigate build, runtime, audio, and performance issues across hardware and software boundaries. Combine AI-assisted investigation with logs, debuggers, and target-hardware measurements to confirm root causes and fixes.
- Develop reusable integration approaches across SoCs, DSPs, and other processors, prioritizing embedded Linux and extending support to RTOS platforms as needed.
- Write and maintain setup instructions, build procedures, examples, troubleshooting guides, and release notes. Verify that customers can reproduce integrations using the delivered materials.
- Collaborate with platform test and core development engineers on automated testing, code reviews, defect resolution, and release quality. Prepare versioned packages containing the required code, tools, dependencies, and documentation.
- Work directly with customers and silicon partners in engineering-to-engineering discussions to diagnose integration issues, explain platform requirements, and turn recurring problems into improvements to the shared package.
Required qualifications
- Strong hands-on C/C++ development skills in embedded Linux environments, including cross-compilation, target deployment, and debugging on physical hardware.
- Working proficiency in Python for configuration, scripting, and engineering tools.
- Demonstrated hands-on proficiency using AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, or equivalent tools for coding and debugging. Ability to scope tasks, provide repository and platform context, and iterate using build and test feedback.
- Ability to critically review AI-generated code and diagnoses, validate behavior on target hardware, and take ownership of code quality and correctness. Sound judgment in protecting proprietary code, customer data, and credentials when using AI tools.
- Solid understanding of embedded-system behavior, including threads, synchronization, memory management, interfaces, and real-time constraints.
- Experience with source control, build systems, and repeatable development workflows, using tools such as Git, CMake or Make, and Linux debuggers.
- Ability to isolate complex problems using logs, debuggers, and measurements, and to produce maintainable code and clear technical documentation.
- Good written and spoken English for technical discussions, customer and partner collaboration, and documentation. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote team.
Preferred qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant embedded software or platform engineering experience.
- Embedded audio and DSP experience is especially valuable, including audio signal paths, buffering, latency, sample rates, and real-time processing.
- Experience with Linux audio interfaces such as ALSA, Linux/Android platforms, board support packages, or platform bring-up.
- Experience with RTOS-based systems or processor families such as Arm A-series or M-series, HiFi, SHARC, TI DSP, or QDSP. Expertise across every family is not expected.
- Experience developing software development kits (SDKs), integration packages, or tools used by external developers. Prior Audio Weaver experience is a plus.
- Experience working with automotive SoCs.
Working in Taiwan
This is a remote position based in Taiwan, joining our existing Taiwan team of approximately ten colleagues. DSP Concepts does not currently have a physical Taiwan office, so you will work with development hardware at home and access remotely shared lab hardware. Occasional team meetups in Taipei may take place roughly once per quarter, with no regular office attendance requirement. Business travel may be required infrequently. DSP Concepts is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
