Piping Designer

This is a remote position.

Design Hire is seeking a Piping Designer to support complex pipe routing, pipe support design and mechanical layout work for highly regulated industrial facilities. This role is a strong fit for someone with experience developing accurate piping layouts, coordinating with engineering teams, and supporting plant modification or equipment replacement projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop pipe routing layouts, pipe support designs, equipment drawings, and related mechanical design documentation.
• Support piping modifications, equipment replacement work, system layout updates, and field-driven design changes.
• Coordinate piping and mechanical layouts with structural, electrical, civil, and field constraints.
• Work with engineering teams to document system interfaces, support locations, equipment requirements, and installation details.
• Assist with 3D model coordination, drawing updates, design reviews, and package preparation for construction or field execution.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Piping Designer, Pipe Support Designer, Mechanical Designer, or related plant design role.
• Background supporting nuclear, power generation, industrial, or highly regulated facility projects preferred.
• Experience with pipe routing, pipe supports, racks, plant modifications, and mechanical layout design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Microstation,  SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar 3D design and layout tools.
• Exposure to pipe stress or structural analysis tools such as AutoPIPE, SuperPipe, GT STRUDL, ME101, or related software preferred.
• Working knowledge of ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, or nuclear-grade component design requirements preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, piping layouts, equipment drawings, specifications, and field information.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, organization, and ability to coordinate across multi-discipline engineering teams
