Provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy and behavior-change counseling to children and adolescents through virtual visits. Collaborate with an integrated care team including physicians and behavioral health clinicians to support sustainable health changes.
Tailwind Care is building a better way to care for kids and teens with metabolic health concerns through a family-centered model. Too often, families are left to navigate fragmented care, long waitlists, and a system that treats medical, nutritional, and behavioral needs separately.
We bring medical care, nutrition, and behavioral health together in one coordinated, evidence-based program, covered by insurance. Our goal is to help kids and teens build healthier lives, with care that’s practical, compassionate, and built around the whole family.
As a Pediatric Registered Dietitian at Tailwind Care, you’ll provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy and behavior-change counseling to children and adolescents with obesity and weight-related health concerns, and their caregivers, through virtual visits.
You’ll work alongside physicians, behavioral health clinicians, and care coordinators as part of an integrated care team, helping families make practical, sustainable changes that support healthy growth, nutritional adequacy, and long-term health.
As a 1099 independent contractor with Tailwind Care, you will not be eligible for employee benefits, including health insurance or paid time off. Tailwind will provide services to support your practice, such as patient matching, billing, and admin support.
Provide family-centered medical nutrition therapy. Virtual visits with children, adolescents, and caregivers (individually or together) using developmentally appropriate, evidence-based approaches.
Assess and plan. Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments (growth trajectories, dietary intake, feeding dynamics, food access, labs, medications, comorbidities) and build individualized care plans using the Nutrition Care Process.
Support sustainable behavior change. Help families make practical changes around meals, snacks, beverages, and the home food environment, reinforcing team goals for movement and sleep, without shame.
Deliver culturally responsive care. Approach weight-related care in a clinically direct, respectful way that takes family food traditions, preferences, access, and budgets into account.
Support patients on obesity management medications. Monitor nutritional adequacy, GI tolerance, appetite changes, and under-fueling; watch for signs of disordered eating and collaborate with the prescribing and behavioral health clinicians when concerns arise.
Keep records that hold up. Timely documentation using the Nutrition Care Process and standardized terminology, supporting continuity, medical necessity, and payer requirements.
Your hours are guaranteed. Most telehealth platforms pay per visit and guarantee nothing. We reserve a weekly block and pay all of it while we fill your available hours.
Care for the whole family. Our model recognizes that sustainable change for children rarely happens in isolation. You’ll work with caregivers as an integral part of care.
Nutrition is core to the model. Nutrition care is integrated with medical and behavioral health care rather than delivered as a standalone service.
Spend less time on non-clinical admin. Credentialing, billing, technology, and care coordination are on us, so you spend time working with patients and families.
Deliver longitudinal care. Rather than one-time nutrition counseling, you’ll build ongoing relationships with families and help them make changes over time.
