Patient Education Liaison

Location: Remote within assigned geography; significant regional travel required

Position Summary

At Praxis, we are building more than a commercial organization—we are building a patient-centered ecosystem that helps individuals and families access life-changing therapies with speed, empathy, and excellence.

The Patient Education Liaison (PEL) serves as the primary field-based patient support partner within an assigned geography, helping patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers navigate the journey from prescription through therapy initiation and ongoing treatment. The PEL delivers disease and therapy education, helps address access-related barriers, and partners closely with providers, specialty pharmacies, and internal teams to support timely treatment initiation.

In addition to supporting individual patients and providers, the PEL serves as a trusted resource for complex patient situations, contributes field insights that help shape patient support strategies, and drives continuous improvement in the patient experience. This individual is expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, judgment, and accountability while influencing outcomes across a diverse group of stakeholders. Success in this role requires strong collaboration, problem-solving, and a deep commitment to helping patients access and remain on therapy.

Primary Responsibilities

Patient Education & Support

  • Serve as the primary field-based educational resource for patients and caregivers, providing disease and therapy education and guiding them through onboarding and treatment initiation.
  • Build trusted relationships with patients and families while supporting treatment readiness and helping them navigate the patient journey.

Access & Barrier Resolution

  • Proactively identify and address access-related barriers that may delay therapy initiation, partnering with provider offices, specialty pharmacies, patient support services, and internal stakeholders to facilitate resolution.
  • Monitor patient progression through onboarding and access processes, serving as a trusted resource for complex cases and escalating issues as appropriate.

Provider & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Develop strong relationships with healthcare providers and office staff, educating them on patient support resources, onboarding processes, and available access solutions.
  • Partner closely with Market Access, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Specialty Pharmacy, and other stakeholders to address patient needs and improve the patient experience.

Business & Organizational Contribution

  • Share field insights and identify trends that inform patient support strategies, process improvements, and best practices.
  • Participate in launch readiness activities, field initiatives, and special projects that support successful therapy initiation and patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, analyze territory performance, and take ownership for achieving patient support goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Typically 8+ years of experience working as a clinical educator, reimbursement specialist, patient services professional, nurse educator, rare disease specialist, or related healthcare field.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting patients through complex access and reimbursement pathways.
  • Demonstrated experience independently managing complex patient access and reimbursement situations.
  • Strong understanding of insurance and the access process, specialty pharmacy distribution models, prior authorizations, appeals, and financial assistance programs.
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes across providers, specialty pharmacies, patient support services, and internal cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience serving as a trusted resource, mentor, trainer, or informal leader within a field-based organization.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned geography (approximately 50–75%).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting launches of specialty or rare disease therapies with a pharmaceutical/manufacturer program.
  • Clinical background such as RN, NP, PA, PharmD, or equivalent healthcare experience.
  • Experience supporting patients with neurological or central nervous system disorders.
  • Experience contributing to the development of field tools, educational resources, onboarding programs, or operational processes.
  • Experience leading regional initiatives, special projects, or field excellence efforts.
