About the Opportunity

The College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University invites applications for a non-tenure track part time faculty lecturer in our Doctor of Law and Policy program on our Online campus. The successful candidate will teach online graduate level courses in the Doctor of Law and Policy program, within Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies.

The College of Professional Studies is one of ten colleges of Northeastern University, a nationally ranked private research university. Founded in 1960, the College provides lifelong experiential learning that unleashes the capacities of aspiring individuals in all stages and walks of life. The College teaches undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students on campus and online in more than 90 programs.

Furthermore, the successful applicant must be able to maintain valid work authorization in the United States throughout the entire appointment without Northeastern University’s sponsorship for a visa.

Responsibilities

Qualified candidates must be prepared to work with global student populations.

Teach graduate online courses within the Doctor of Law and Policy degree program. Courses may include but are not limited to: law and legal reasoning, law and policy, public policy theory and practice, research methods, or thesis development.

Teaching one or more 15-week (Fall, Spring, or Summer) online courses per academic year. Courses meet online. This appointment includes pre-term course development (including weekly readings, assignments, and multimedia lectures), and in-term commitments of monitoring online discussion boards, general course management, grading, online presence, and direct online engagement one-on-one with students. Training in Canvas (the online course platform) will be provided.

Qualifications

The ideal instructor will have a JD or a PhD in a relevant social science discipline and research experience. A history of successful teaching at the graduate level and experience teaching online is strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with doctoral level research, adult learners, and the application of research to professional settings.
