Teach Minnesota Teaching Fellows (TMTF) is TNTP’s Minnesota-based, state-approved alternative pathway into teaching. The program is designed to expand the pipeline of effective, diverse educators and address persistent teacher shortages through rigorous preparation, classroom experience, and ongoing coaching.

What You’ll Do

The Part-time Director, Fundraising will lead strategy and execution for fundraising across Teach Minnesota Teaching Fellows, including securing funding, cultivating relationships, and leading grant writing and reporting. This role is estimated to be approximately 10 hours/week.

The Part-time Director, Fundraising will report to the Partner, Teach Minnesota Teaching Fellows (TMTF) and collaborate closely with the TMTF team, the national fundraising team, and other key partners across the organization. The Part-time Director, Fundraising - TMTF is accountable for achieving annual fundraising targets.

The position’s specific responsibilities include:

Fundraising Strategy and Revenue Generation:

  • Develop and execute fundraising strategy aligned to sustainability and growth goals

  • Drive annual fundraising targets

  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities

Funder Cultivation and Relationship Management:

  • Build relationships with foundations and partners

  • Lead cultivation efforts including meetings and site visits

  • Manage full funder lifecycle

Proposal, Grant, and Report Writing:

  • Lead proposal and grant development

  • Write compelling narratives

  • Manage grant reporting

Program Storytelling and External Communications:

  • Translate program impact into compelling messaging

  • Ensure quality across external materials

Strategic Partnership and Internal Collaboration:

  • Partner with program leadership to understand theory of change

  • Advise on strategy tied to sustainability

  • Build relationships. You’ll regularly partner with internal and external stakeholders. You have an ability to connect and build relationships with diverse communities.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • More than five years of fundraising experience with demonstrated success garnering private philanthropic support, preferably in education or public policy on a national level, and at least 1-2 years of experience developing and leading fundraising strategy.

  • Experience with multiple areas of fundraising including foundation, corporation, individual, and planned giving.

  • Knowledge of the full process of securing philanthropic revenue, including funder identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

  • Demonstrated experience developing new sources of revenue to support growth and impact.

  • Self-reliant, results-oriented problem-solving skills, including the ability to critically assess challenges and identify effective solutions and proactive steps forward even in ambiguous situations.

  • Exceptional writing ability, including experience developing successful grant applications, proposals, concept papers, LOIs and progress narratives.

  • Superior communication skills with a proven ability to invest others, engage staff and donors, and influence outcomes.

  • Evidence of strong cross-team collaboration skills and the ability to manage up to senior leadership, while also inviting and respecting diverse perspectives and fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture.  

  • Familiarity with issues, research, policy, and best practices in K-12 education.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • High emotional intelligence, strong listening skills, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
