The University of Law is looking for a highly organised and customer-focused National Careers Assistant to join our Employability team on a fixed term contract until August 2027.

This is a 0.4 FTE part-time opportunity, working Mondays and Tuesdays, and is also available as a secondment opportunity for internal applicants.

As a National Careers Assistant, you will be one of the first points of contact for students, graduates and employers, providing a high standard of customer service and helping clients access the right careers information, resources and appointments. You will also contribute to national Employability projects, events, communications and administrative activity across the University.

As our National Careers Assistant, you will:

  • Respond to enquiries from students, graduates, employers and colleagues by email, telephone and in person, providing helpful and professional support.

  • Manage and monitor Careers inboxes across all campuses, responding to enquiries and signposting clients to appropriate services and resources.

  • Support students with booking careers appointments and accessing online careers resources.

  • Assist with the organisation and promotion of careers events, including creating event information, promotional materials and communications.

  • Support national Employability projects, including website, social media, newsletters and student communications.

  • Maintain accurate student, graduate and employer information, vacancies, event attendance and engagement records.

  • Provide general administrative support to the wider Careers and Employability team, including updating online systems and arranging meetings, events and travel.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the University to ensure an effective and responsive Careers service.

  • Occasionally support large-scale Careers events on campus.

Is this you?:

  • Experience working in a busy administrative or customer-facing environment is essential

  • Experience providing a high standard of customer service, both face-to-face and by telephone.

  • Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail.

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and databases, with confidence using virtual platforms such as Teams and Zoom.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise your workload and remain accurate in a busy environment.

  • A positive, flexible and professional approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Experience in a legal, education or careers environment would be desirable, as would experience of social media or marketing.
