Overview

The Med Science Liaison I position is a field-based scientific and clinical expert role. We are currently looking for an individual to strategically support our portfolio of hereditary testing, companion diagnostics, and all current and future pan-omic testing. The Med Science Liaison I plays a pivotal role in communicating Myriad’s scientific advancements to healthcare professionals. The candidate must possess a unique blend of strong business acumen, market awareness, and clinical expertise, serve as a vital conduit of information and collaboration with cross-functional internal stakeholders.

Responsibility

1. Maintain MSL Expertise through:

   1. Demonstrates clinical knowledge of Myriad’s portfolio products and the science behind them.

   2. Actively participates in the Myriad Medical Affairs community through best practice sharing on regional and national calls.

   3. Stays current on research in related topics, such as reviewing literature for publications that impact our portfolio and business strategy.

   4. Attends scientific conferences to meet initiatives of the business unit.

   5. Continually educates oneself on market issues, trends, monitors the competitive landscape, and product knowledge as it pertains to specific business responsibilities in key therapeutic areas.

   6. Collaborates with the Medical Affairs community by actively sharing best practices within Myriad Medical Affairs.

   7. Maintains existing KOL relationships while prospecting for new relationships.

   8. Establishes and builds relationships with local, regional, and national KOLs.

   9. Conducts planned and impromptu meetings/discussions with KOLs at conferences.

   10. Attends and represents the business at scientific conferences.

   11. Proactively manages professional growth and development.

2. Serves as a medical/scientific resource to Clinicians by:

   1. Answering medical questions and addressing other clinically related medical information issues.

   2. Assisting in understanding and utilizing consistent processes for assessing patients’ risk for genetic and genomic (multi-omic) testing, explain test results, and discuss relevant guidelines associated with treatment and medical management options.

   3. Providing ongoing, up-to-date education to customers thereby increasing awareness of, and access to, genetic and pan-omic tests for appropriate patients.

   4. Delivering clinical and scientific presentations to healthcare practitioners.

   5. Supporting customer research requests with onboarding and publications through Myriad’s Comprehensive Research Registry.

3. Partners with sales team and demonstrates business acumen through:

   1. Collaboration with sales to identify accounts for area of primary focus and KOL engagement and develops developmental/educational plans.

   2. Attending sales meetings and partners with area sales manager (ASM) and marketing to facilitate and/or present information, as needed.

   3. Educating sales team on current clinical practice, guideline advancements, and aids sales training to elevate their skillset.

   4. Aids in Speaker Trainings and Thought Leader (KOL) meetings as it relates to the area of focus.

   5. Identifying and prioritizing opportunities for customer engagement, growth, and education.

   6. Evaluating effective MSL interventions and partnership with sales to achieve customer and company goals.

   7. Fully supporting and participating in the implementation of business unit initiatives.

   8. Timely inputting and maintaining internal database and administrative tasks relating to customer interactions.

Qualifications

1. Advanced degree required: (i.e., APP, PA, NP, MS) in a relevant scientific and clinical discipline or equivalent. Maintain current board certifications and/or licenses, preferred, while actively pursuing continuous education.

2. Ideally, possess a minimum of three years of post-graduate clinical experience.

3. Demonstrate advanced training and/or experience in specific clinical area. Familiarity with business unit related pharmacology is also preferred.

4. Understand genetics/genomics, genetic testing, and current service delivery models.

5. Experience facilitating research discussions with KOLs and effectively communicating research results or clinical studies to a variety of audiences.

6. Preference for candidates with established relationships with thought leaders.

7. Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

8. Willing and able to travel 2-3 days per week, occasional weekends for conferences/ meetings.

9. Effectively managing travel and maintaining expenses within appropriate budget.

10. Ability to sit continuously for extended periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day).

11. Proficiency in keyboard use, comprising 50% or more of the workday.

12. Capability to drive personal vehicles or rental cars and travel across the United States.

13. Willingness to travel 20-30% of the time, with a majority of work conducted from a home office and up to 80% involving customer and key opinion leader interactions within a specified geographic area. Additional travel may be necessary for occasional coverage, educational sessions, or corporate meetings.

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements –light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical Requirements –stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, pushing, or pulling, and reaching. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions.
