Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide high-quality medical care within our outpatient substance abuse treatment program. In this role, you will be the clinical cornerstone of our patient intake and stabilization process, conducting comprehensive assessments, managing detoxification protocols, and addressing the complex healthcare needs of patients. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in stabilizing patients and fostering a supportive environment for long-term healing.
Shift Availability & Location
Schedule: Friday to Tuesday
Hours: 9 AM to 3 PM
Setting: 100% Remote, or hybrid arrangements are available. Facility is located in Simi Valley, CA.
Compensation & Pay Structure
Daily rate of $400 - $500
Responsibilities
Comprehensive Clinical Evaluations: Conduct in-depth psychiatric and medical assessments upon admission to determine medical stability, withdrawal severity, and immediate treatment needs.
Diagnosis & Evidence-Based Treatment: Diagnose and manage complex substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions, utilizing the latest clinical guidelines and ASAM criteria.
Pharmacological Management: Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications and Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT), ensuring strict adherence to DEA, state, and federal regulatory standards.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Partner closely with psychiatrists, therapists, and nursing staff to design, implement, and adjust individualized, patient-centered treatment plans.
Clinical Documentation & Compliance: Maintain precise, timely, and audit-ready documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) to reflect all interventions, progress notes, and care transitions.
Crisis Intervention & De-escalation: Lead medical response and crisis intervention for patients experiencing acute psychological distress, high-risk withdrawal symptoms, or behavioral emergencies.
Interdisciplinary Team Leadership: Actively participate in clinical rounds and case reviews, providing medical insights to the broader team to optimize patient outcomes and relapse prevention.
QualificationsCompetencies
Clinical Assessment & Stabilization: Expert ability to perform comprehensive health histories and physicals, with a focus on diagnosing and treating acute intoxication and complex withdrawal syndromes (Alcohol, Opioids, Benzodiazepines).
Addiction Medicine Expertise: Proficient in the pharmacology of psychoactive substances and the management of Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT), including Buprenorphine, Naltrexone, and Acamprosate.
Dual-Diagnosis & Co-morbidity Management: Skilled in identifying and treating co-occurring psychiatric disorders and medical conditions common in the recovery population (e.g., Depression, HIV, Hep C, and Hypertension).
Risk Mitigation & De-escalation: Competent in performing suicide and relapse risk assessments and utilizing Motivational Interviewing (MI) and de-escalation techniques to maintain a therapeutic environment.
Collaborative Care Coordination: A strong communicator capable of working within a multidisciplinary team to interpret diagnostic tests (UDS) and develop evidence-based, post-inpatient relapse prevention plans.
Qualifications
Licensure: Active and unrestricted California NP certificate or PA license is required.
Prescriptive Authority: Valid DEA registration with the ability to prescribe controlled substances; proficiency in MAT protocols is highly preferred.
Specialization: Board Certification as a PMHNP is ideal, though FNP/PA-C candidates with behavioral health or addiction medicine experience will be considered.
Clinical Experience: Prior experience in inpatient substance abuse or acute mental health treatment settings is strongly preferred.
Interpersonal Excellence: Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment while maintaining seamless communication with a multidisciplinary clinical team.
Technical Proficiency: Previous experience with KIPU strongly preferred.
