Job Summary:
Our Client is seeking a highly organized Government Relations Specialist to help prospective clients navigate Arkansas Medicaid and waiver programs.

This position serves as a liaison between the general public and the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS). The specialist will screen and prequalify prospective applicants, explain eligibility requirements, assist qualified individuals through the application process, and track applications through final determination.

Key Responsibilities

• Screen and prequalify a high volume of prospective Medicaid and waiver applicants.
• Understand and explain DHS eligibility rules, requirements, and approval processes.
• Help qualified applicants complete applications accurately and gather required documentation.
• Identify potential eligibility barriers and help applicants address them.
• Monitor application progress, deadlines, requests for information, and eligibility decisions in state systems.
• Maintain accurate applicant records, statuses, notes, and follow-up.
• Assist applicants experiencing delays, denials, or loss of eligibility.
• Communicate effectively with applicants, families, DHS representatives, and internal teams.
• Manage hundreds of prospective and active applicants at various stages of the process.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of working with Medicaid & waiver programs.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Excellent organization, follow-up, and attention to detail.
• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to learn and interpret Medicaid and waiver eligibility requirements.
• Comfortable managing a large, fast-moving caseload.
• Proficient with databases, spreadsheets, communication platforms, and web-based systems.
• Able to work independently and maintain accurate documentation.

Growth Potential
This starts part-time, but hours can increase as the agency grows. Long-term, this can expand into a larger scheduling role (and later, cross-training with another scheduler for backup coverage).
