We are seeking Malay Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Malay, a Dravidian language spoken in Kerala, India, is a priority South Asian language frequently required in immigration and asylum cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Malay ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
- Interpret accurately and impartially in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
- Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
- Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA reviews.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Malay and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, community, legal, healthcare, or government preferred).
- Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
