Job Description Summary
The Behind the Meter (“BTM”) Lead Contract Manager will provide strategic and hands-on commercial contract management support for GE Grid Solutions’ (“GE Grid”) NAM BTM Portfolio, with a primary focus on project execution, contract negotiation and administration, claims management, and commercial risk mitigation. This role will report to and partner closely with the NAM BTM Contract Management Portfolio Leader, while collaborating cross-functionally with Project Management, Sourcing, Procurement, Legal Finance, and other key stakeholders to support the successful delivery of complex energy infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience negotiating terms and conditions, leading contract administration across complex project lifecycles, managing subcontractor and supplier commercial matters, and developing claims and variation strategies that protect GE Grid Solution’s commercial position.

Essential Responsibilities
- Provide commercial contract management support for GE Grid’s BTM portfolio, with an emphasis on complex project execution and delivery.
- Preserve and enhance contract margin by proactively identifying commercial risks and opportunities, driving timely resolution of contractual issues, and supporting effective negotiation of changes, claims, and cost recovery mechanisms throughout project execution.
- Review, interpret, and negotiate prime contract terms and conditions to identify risk, protect GE Grid’s interests, and support successful project execution.
- Support contract project delivery and management throughout the full project lifecycle, from contract award through execution, change management, and closeout.
- Lead the preparation, drafting, submission, and negotiation of claims, change orders, variation orders, and other formal contractual entitlements.
- Develop and execute claims management strategies to preserve contractual rights and improve commercial outcomes.
- Ensure appropriate flow-down and back-to-back alignment of contractual obligations across subcontractors, suppliers, and partners.
- Review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including subcontracts, Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), NDAs, supply agreements, and related project documents.
- Draft and manage formal notices, correspondence, and other contract communications with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks through proactive contract administration and negotiation.
- Support resolution of subcontractor and supplier disputes, including invoicing issues, performance-related matters, and other commercial claims.
- Partner with sourcing, procurement, project management, legal, finance, and operations teams to drive alignment on contract execution strategy and issue resolution.
- Maintain contract records, key correspondence, and performance metrics in company systems to ensure compliance, transparency, and reporting accuracy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Legal Studies, Business, Commercial Management, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract drafting, contract negotiation, and commercial management in a fast-paced project or technology-driven environment.
- Strong familiarity with commercial and legal terms applicable to energy-related infrastructure projects, with demonstrated experience negotiating contract terms and conditions for complex commercial or infrastructure projects.
- Experience supporting EPC contract project delivery and contract management.
- Experience with claims management, change orders, variation orders, and dispute resolution.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%.
Desired Characteristics
- Experience supporting BTM, distributed energy, power systems, renewables, or other energy infrastructure projects.
- Legal Studies, Juris Doctor (JD) or degree in Construction Project Management is preferred.
- Strong experience in negotiating commercial terms and conditions with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Proven commercial acumen with the ability to identify contractual risk and develop practical mitigation strategies.
- Experience in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) environments, including contract administration through project execution and closeout.
- Demonstrated success managing claims, developing entitlement positions, and supporting formal dispute resolution processes. Experience supporting litigation, arbitration, or other formal dispute and claims resolution proceedings preferred.
- Experience in developing, negotiating, and administering engineering, construction, and supply subcontracts.
- Ability to manage complex contractual interfaces across customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills, including drafting formal notices, claims letters, reservation of rights letters, and other key commercial correspondence.
- Ability to maintain KPIs and contract documentation in company systems to support reporting and compliance requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
- Experience in civil, construction, energy, renewable, or other complex infrastructure sectors preferred.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $120,800.00 and $201,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
