We are seeking Konjobal / Q’anjob’al Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Konjobal / Q’anjob’al , widely spoken in Guatemala, is a rare but critical language for asylum and immigration interviews.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Konjobal / Q’anjob’al ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
Interpret in immigration, legal, and administrative settings with accuracy and impartiality.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to USCIS/DHS compliance standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality audits.

Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Konjobal / Q’anjob’al and English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, community, legal, or government preferred).
Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural competency.
Excellent telephone communication skills.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 security clearance.
